Iverson Classic 2026: Best of the Rest

Joseph is an athletic player who beats opponents to the basket, rebounds, knocks down threes and defends. There was a sequence in Saturday's game where Joseph reeled off three consecutive shots on offense. He started off by making a contested three-pointer. In the next two possessions he attacked the basket and nailed another three. Joseph is a dynamic wing player who showed the ability to score from every level of the basketball court. He also scored in transition when Team Mookie had fast-break opportunities. Joseph is a tough player who can rebound at a high level. He dominated the glass on both ends of the court. Defensively, he blocked a couple of shots and played the passing lanes. This led to him forcing numerous turnovers from opposing players. Joseph is a skilled player who's a viable threat on both sides of the ball.     I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Wyatt play basketball. He was a terror both in the paint and on the glass. Wyatt easily dominated his opponents inside by scoring right over the top of them. He was great at using his size to clear out space and make baskets. On numerous occasions he was able to score despite being contacted by defenders. I was thoroughly impressed with his ball handling ability. There was a sequence in the game where he grabbed a defensive rebound, brought the ball up court, hit the defender with a nice move and converted the lay-up. I really didn't expect him to be so agile. Wyatt plays and has the look of a post player. Never judge a book by it's cover! He also scored a couple of baskets in transition when the team had fast-break opportunities. Defensively, Wyatt blocked multiple shots and protected the paint. This young man has the potential to be great as he continues to work on his game.     Pablo is a new age power forward. This position in today's game is completely different from the traditional back-to-the-basket game of past years. He runs the floor, shows athleticism, attacks the basket and handles the basketball like a guard at times. I watched Pablo grab a defensive rebound, drive the ball down court and make a play by scoring or assisting. When he dominated the offensive glass, Pablo gave Moss Elite second chance scoring opportunities. On some occasions, he cleaned up his teammates' misses by scoring on put-backs around the basket. He showed a knack for scoring tough baskets in the paint. Pablo excelled at blocking shots and maintaining a defensive presence in the paint. He was great at extending his defense outside the interior. In some instances, he was forced to guard smaller players on the wing. Pablo used his athleticism to hold his own by keeping opponents in front of him. Pablo is the type of player who can have an immediate impact on a game.     Martell is a good all around player. Whether it was scoring, passing, rebounding or defending, he always found a way to stay in the flow of the game. Martell showed the ability to create his own offense. His ball handling skills allowed him to free himself for good looks at the basket. Martell has the skill set to score from every area of the floor. In Saturday's game, he attacked the basket, knocked down short perimeter jumpers and extended his range beyond the three-point line. Martell showed toughness by fighting for rebounds in the paint. He was effective despite being smaller than opposing players. Defensively, he caused problems for Moss Elite guards by pressing them into turnovers. I believe Martell will continue to prosper on the basketball court. With his continued growth and maturity, he could become a special player in the coming years.     Oliver is an excellent shooter from behind the three-point line. He had a quiet first half but turned it around in the second. While he was not aggressive on offense, Oliver made a point to do all the intangibles needed to help his team be successful. Whether it was taking charges, fighting for loose balls, rebounding, defending or assisting, Oliver proved to be the ultimate team player. When halftime was over, he came out shooting! Oliver knocked down multiple threes despite having a hand in his face. He stayed aggressive throughout the rest of the game. By staying active and finding ways to free himself, his shots made him more of a threat on the perimeter. In my opinion, Oliver is the type of player who can catch fire and nail the majority of his shots.
