A strong senior class led the way, while key contributors stepped up in big moments, proving this was a complete and dynamic group. While the season didn't end the way Horace had hoped, with a pair of losses at State, it was still a year filled with lasting memories and standout performances that left a mark on the program. Can get hot in a hurry. Had a great season on the defensive end and rebounded well from the guard spot. He will be primed for a big senior season and an increase in volume for shots. Showed up every day to practice with a great attitude. One of the best vocal leaders on our squad and always was encouraging to guys, whether they were playing well or having an off game."   #11 [player_tooltip player_id='1651920' first='Owen' last='Terras'] – "Had an awesome junior campaign. Voted All-Conference. Had a few monster games with double-double performances. Another guy who is a 2-way player and a 3-level scorer. He can be a matchup nightmare on any given night. Looking to have a monster senior year after a good off-season in the weight room."   #13 [player_tooltip player_id='1541297' first='Kaiden' last='Peterson'] – "Shot the ball really well to start his senior year. Improved a ton on the defensive end and turned into a 3 and D guy that we could stick on the opposing teams' best shooters. Had a great showing at the State Tournament with a career shooting night, putting up 22 points against the State Champions. Received our “H.A.W.K” award for facing adversity at the beginning of his junior year and bouncing back to finish his career strong."   #21 [player_tooltip player_id='2884050' first='Nolan' last='Gladue'] – "9th grader that played most of the season on the JV squad behind a talented group of guards. Gained more minutes as the season went on. Unfortunately had to miss a few weeks towards the end of the season due to extreme illness. Great on-ball defender and consistent scorer at the JV level. Played some minutes in the EDC and State tournament. Played a stretch four for us and would guard opposing post players to match physicality. Had a few big games, hitting several 3s and had a few dunks this season, showcasing an impressive vertical! One of our best rebounders on both ends of the floor. He was asked every night to lead us in rebounding on the defensive end. Great passer and screener out of certain sets or actions we like to run.  All-Conference Honorable mention. "Special/Historic season for the Hawks!"   PHD: What are some of your best memories from off the court?   "Overnight trips going to Bismarck for State and Saint Cloud for the Granite City Classic."   "The locker room at the SHAC after qualifying for State for the first time in program history."   PHD: Who was your most improved player?   "[player_tooltip player_id='1651919' first='Ryder' last='Majkrzak'] – Improved and became more comfortable each game. He has always been able to shoot it well. This year, he improved tremendously on the defensive end and rebounded extremely well as a guard."   PHD: Who were a few of your hardest workers?   "[player_tooltip player_id='1798699' first='Jett' last='Collins'] brought it every time he stepped on the floor, whether it was for practice or for a game."   "[player_tooltip player_id='1327797' first='Carter' last='Evanson'] is the best practice player we have had in the program. He takes every drill and every rep seriously."   "[player_tooltip player_id='1541297' first='Kaiden' last='Peterson'] had a major set back as a junior and really learned to not take time for granted this entire season."   PHD: Can you talk about your seniors and what will be missed?   "We had an awesome senior class that really grew as players and leaders. After taking over the program in 23/24 this group really changed the reputation of our program. Each year this group helped improve our overall record going from 5-19, to 18-6, finishing with a program-best 21-5."   PHD: Who was your top post player?   "[player_tooltip player_id='1651918' first='Brett' last='Livingston'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1798699' first='Jett' last='Collins'] did a lot of dirty work for us by setting screens and rebounding. Jett was the toughest kid on our team and Brett led us in both rebounding and blocked shots."   PHD: Who was your best defensive player?   "[player_tooltip player_id='1651920' first='Owen' last='Terras'] was someone who did a lot of little things on defense for us. He was also able to guard 1-5. He was at the top of the league in steals, rebounds, and blocked shots as well. I wouldn't be shocked if he also led the league in charges taken!"   PHD: Were there any memorable buzzer-beaters, upsets, or clutch performances?   "As impressive of a season we had we lost a total of 5 games by a combined total of 16 points. We lost on the road against Davies by 1, being our only regular-season league loss, lost to Bismarck Century in the first round of the State Tournament after leading at half, and lost to Legacy on an offensive tip-in at the buzzer in the last game of the season."   "Clutch performances – I need to give a shout out to [player_tooltip player_id='1651919' first='Ryder' last='Majkrzak'] hitting a game winner early in the year against a really good Dickinson squad, [player_tooltip player_id='1651920' first='Owen' last='Terras'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1651918' first='Brett' last='Livingston'] had an incredible game on the road at WF, and [player_tooltip player_id='1680906' first='Aiden' last='Green'] taking over and closing out several big games in the clutch at the FT line and through some incredible play making."   PHD: What lessons from this season go beyond basketball?   "We had several guest speakers throughout the season who came and spoke to our team. Each message was impactful, but the one that stands out the most was when Dean Winceswki came and spoke to the boys. Big takeaways for our group were being where your feet are, taking ownership of yourself and the team, and having a sense of gratitude."   PHD: Can you talk about an assistant coach?   "Very thankful for everyone on staff but wanted to specifically give a shout out to Coach Benson for what he brought to the table this year. He was a huge help to the program and a difference maker in what made this a special and historic season for the program."   PHD: Any last comments/thoughts on the season?   "This year we had a lot of things to be proud of: 21-5 record, undefeated at home (21 game win streak at home), and punched our ticket to the State Tournament for the first time. Special thank you to our 4 seniors for your leadership on and off the court. Thank you for leaving Horace Hawks basketball better than you found it. You will be missed!"
