Oakland, CA - Last weekend, April 11th and 12th, I attended the Elite Spring Hoops Showcase and Tournament held at various facilities in Oakland, Walnut Creek, Clayton Valley, Martinez, and other surrounding cities. I attended the Showcase portion of the event which was held at Open Gym Premier Oakland's four court facility. The Showcase division featured teams from the 3SSB Adidas Circuit, P32 New Balance, Adidas Gold Circuit, and EHA's new circuit, as well as other high level independent teams. I arrived at the gym for the second game on Day 1 and departed at 1:30 on Day 2, watching a total of 18 games over the two day span. This article is Part 2 and takes a look at 7 standout wing/forwards from the Showcase Division, which is a 2-part series focused on the top wing/forwards. I will also look at standout forwards and centers in final article from this event. In this article you will find the following information: players name, height, grad class, position, school, club team, how they performed, and their skill sets. The players are listed in alphabetical order, not ranked order, and we begin with [player_tooltip player_id='2866014' first='Marcel' last='Nsizoa Ndi'] .

The 6-foot-4 wing/forward has a physical and athletic frame, good skill to complement the strong physique, and can space the floor with the 3-ball. Ndi has a strong handle on the ball, uses the crossover and hesitation moves to get his defender off balance, gets into the paint with frequency, has the body control and strength to score through contact at the basket, and is accurate with the 3-ball off the bounce, with good lift on the jumper. Ndi makes hard cuts off screens, curls and cuts to seal his defender off, and has great hands to receive the pass in stride and score at the basket with speed and control. Ndi is a high-level rebounder, plays much bigger than his listed height, and can be an enforcer in the post, or a threat from beyond the arc.

2029 [player_tooltip player_id='3241652' first='JP' last='Oka'] 6'7|WF (Brave Christian/Dublin) - Lakeshow 3SSB 16s

The 6-foot-7 wing/forward is a lengthy and rangy player that can score in volume from beyond the arc, is a versatile defender that can defend all 5 positions on the floor, and likes to play above the rim off the lob or in transition. Oka has good handles, uses the crossover, in-and-out, wrap-behind, and the hesitation to create off the wing, uses his length and strides to get by his initial defender, and is a creative scorer at the basket, with the Euro-step, reverse lay-up to evade shot blockers, or looks to throw down anything close to the basket if a window opens up, and is accurate with the 3-ball off the dribble or the catch, as he gets to his shot spots off the ball. Oka is versatile on the defensive end, has the wingspan and lateral movement to stay in front of smaller players, the length and bounce to hold up against taller players in the paint, has the timing and instincts to block/alter shots in the paint, poke the ball out, deflect passes, or jump passing lanes, allowing him to get out in transition ahead of the defense to take flight for some dazzling dunks. Oka runs the floor well in half-court or full court play and looks to go at the rim to receive the lob or go at the rim himself. Intriguing freshman prospect that is close to a top 10 player in the freshman class in California, and he will have a chance to prove that playing up this Spring and Summer.

2028 Dominik Olanrewaju 6'6|WF (San Joaquin Memorial/Fresno) - Lakeshow 3SSB 16s

The 6-foot-6 wing/forward can impact the game playing on or off the ball, makes quality basketball plays with the ball in his hands, and is effective with the jumper to open up lanes and driving opportunities. Olanrewaju crashes the boards on both ends, has the handle to push the ball up the court, the court vision and decision making to play the point-forward role, finding open teammates cutting off the ball from the top of the key in stride, timely passes to players cutting down the lane when posted up in the low-block, and active hands and timing to deflect passes or jump passing lanes to get out in the open court. Olanrewaju uses the crossover, spin-move, and hesitation moves to create space from his defender, moves well off the ball to get to the open spots, and is accurate with the 3-ball off the bounce or the catch. Versatile defender that can defend perimeter players, as well as post players in the interior.

2028 Preston Palmer 6'7|WF (Sutter) - Jaylen Wells Elite 16 P32

The 6-foot-7 wing/forward has a versatile skill set, is active around the basket, and runs the floor well with or without the ball in his hands. Palmer moves well off the ball to get to expose openings in the defense, looks to flash to the high-post for the catch and square up mid-range jumper from the free throw line area, finds openings in the dunker spot, has touch on shots around the basket, and has the handle to get to his shot spots for the pull-up jumper from the baseline or the elbows. Palmer crashes the boards on both ends, has the handle to push the ball off the glass, and makes good reads in the open court to teammates running the lanes, as well as from the top of the key to open teammates.

2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2398419' first='James' last='Perry'] 6'6|WF (Cornerstone Christian/Antioch) - Lakeshow 3SSB 17s

The 6-foot-6 wing/forward left his imprint on the game in multiple facets, showed versatility as a defender, and has the length, athleticism, and agility coaches are looking for at the next level. Perry highlighted his defensive utility with active hands, a long wingspan, and timing to hold up against taller players in the post, block/alter shots in the paint, deflects entry passes, and jumps passing lanes to generate steals to get out in the open court, where he excels in transition running the lanes and getting ahead of the defense for easy catch and dunk opportunities. Perry moves well off the ball, slashes to open spots in the defense, and has touch on shots around the basket through contact to score over height, as well as being effective on the catch and shoot mid-range jumper. Perry makes great cuts in the half-court setting and has the bounce to take flight for the lob and catch dunk.

2029 [player_tooltip player_id='2952314' first='Pedro' last='Silva'] 6'6|WF (Redwood/Larkspur) - NBBA Elite NorCal UA Rise 15s

The 6-foot-6 wing/forward had a great showing in a huge win over Lillard's 15s to close out day 1 of the Showcase, as he displayed perimeter and interior scoring, play making, and the ability to stay poised in critical situations. Silva has the footwork and back-to-the-basket moves to shake his defender, spin-off to create space, and has nice touch on shots within 15-feet of the basket, moves fluidly off the ball, making cuts to get open on the perimeter, and can light it up with the 3-ball off the catch, connecting at a high clip. Silva has solid handles to put the ball on the deck and attack the basket, the strength and body control to score through contact around the basket, and has the court vision to make reads from the top of the key. Silva is active on the boards, has the timing to deflect and alter shots around the basket, as well as the agility to step out and contest perimeter shots.

2028 [player_tooltip player_id='2874029' first='Zaire' last='Wright'] 6'6|WF (De La Salle/Concord) - Team California 16s

The 6-foot-6 wiry and lengthy wing/forward displayed his ability to keep relentless pressure on the defense, can space the floor from beyond the arc, and is active on the glass. Wright has solid handles, uses the crossover and hesitation moves to create off the dribble, gets into the paint routinely, with the strides to get by his initial defender, has great touch around the basket, using the reverse and up-and-under lay-ups to evade shot-blockers, and has great control on the spin-fade middy. Wright moves well off the ball, gets to his shot spots, and is efficient with the 3-ball off the catch, especially from the corner. Long wingspan, active hands, and good timing to jump passing lanes or deflect passes, leading to steals and easy buckets in the open court.
