The past two weekends we've been at the Open Gym Premier. April 10-12 the Elite Spring Hoops Challenge has become the unofficial beginning of Spring Basketball in NorCal. On April 17-19 we attended the Adidas 3stripe Gold Western addition. Both events had many of the same teams and prospects competing. We decided to combine the standouts from the two events.

[player_tooltip player_id='2352720' first='Donovan' last='Mikel']: He's a good size forward, still growing and filling his frame. He has the tools to take his game to another level. He has the range to take and make 3's. As he continues to build muscle he's shown he can be aggressive working in and around the basket, on the low block. He's a target, wants the ball, at times powers up, might dunk. He has improving post footwork. He could be a double, double guy at this level.

[player_tooltip player_id='2906761' first='Kayvon' last='Bowie']: He's a strong body not too far from a college body at 6'6. He can be quite effective in the post area on both ends. He's still learning how to play physical and not get into foul trouble. He has good hops, goes out of his area for rebounds, takes it up strong off two feet in traffic, might throw one down, gets good lift on the paint jumper. He's shown at times he can function away from the basket, might use a few dribbles too attack from angles, and along the baseline, can rebound and go on occasion. He can defend in the post.

[player_tooltip player_id='3356438' first='Brynden' last='Hunte']: He's long at 6'7, on the thin side. He's alert with good activity defending in the post area, knows where the ball is. He has improving footwork, moves side to side. With lengthy arms, and playing denial, he makes it difficult to get the ball into the post sometimes. His offense can use some polishing, he's ready to receive the ball, will take it up around the rim. At this event he did handle, pass and work along the perimeter. We'll keep an eye his productivity going forward.

[player_tooltip player_id='2517130' first='Miles' last='Woods']: He's still learning how to make good use of his body. He's muscular, broad shoulders, when he figures out how to use his body he'll be more productive, take his game to a higher level. Right now he might use a dribble or two to get his shot off from the low block, He passes, and sets screens up high, guards will run off him, he'll roll to the basket. He has the tools to be an effective rebounder, and post defender at this level.

[player_tooltip player_id='2516026' first='Sean' last='Porter']: This could be the season he logs significant minutes playing for one of the top high school programs in NorCal. He's alway been a productive playing club ball, with a decent inside/out game. A good vertical jump going up in traffic for rebounds, and points he might dunk it. He has 3-point range. Standing 6'7 he has the body, and strength to defend in the post area.

[player_tooltip player_id='2520893' first='Weston' last='Harris']: He's coming along as a post player showing improvements in the paint. At this event, he had good activity around the basket, going up strong for rebounds, and points, he got a couple of putbacks and tap ins. He's an improving post defender, might block, or alter some shots. He has room to grow his game, add muscle, improve his footwork and balance, he might still be growing.

[player_tooltip player_id='2440147' first='Marijan' last='Kelly']: He's an improving post prospect, good strength, can be difficult to defend on the low block when he makes up his mind he wants a bucket at this level. He'll make his way up past the high post for ball reversal passing, screens for ball handlers, and shooters, he executed the pick and roll. Most of his productivity will come in the paint on both sides, defending his position, rebounding, and going after blocks. He'll get offensive rebounds for putbacks points, he's got a paint jumper.
