The Big Stage. Hopkins High School. Tonight Ken Novak Jr goes for the all time coaching record in terms of career wins. Novak goes career win 1,013 and so many of the former Royals that Novak has coached and had an impact on will be in attendance. The task isn't easy, Armstrong is a 13-13 team with some tough seniors that will compete in a motivated way (they don't think they should be the 7 seed and they don't want to be the team overlooked for this record). That said Hopkins is coming in hot after some big wins over DeLaSalle and Buffalo. Novak goes for the record in playoff game one.

Playoff Central. Last night was all small school basketball - 58 small school basketball games - but tonight it's all big school games. There aren't many, only 13 playoff games because there are several girls section finals and tomorrow there will be SEVENTY (70) boys playoff games, but there are some games to keep an eye on. You have that Hopkins game, there are some big 7AAA semi-final games including a huge Hibbing vs Denfeld contest, don't forget Chisago Lakes and Fridley looking to upset Grand Rapids and Becker respectively, Rosemount facing Apple Valley, and the Alexandria "reward" for being the one seed is to face 22-win four seed Monticello.

Upset City. Providence Academy earned their seventh win of the season beating 18-9 Howard Lake Waverly-Winsted. Unfortunately we can't honor the players that made it happen as no results were turned in anywhere but props to Providence Academy who moves on to face Maranatha Christian Academy tomorrow. MCA won the first game they played 69-59 about two and a half weeks ago.

Tip of the Hat to the Career. [player_tooltip player_id='2119602' first='Cole' last='Jacobson'] of GFW is a 6'7 skilled forward that played inside-out for his team leading them to a 16-10 season which was a six game improvement. Last year Cole scored over 24 points a game as a junior and this year as a senior he has gone over 2,000 career points, Cole became the school's all time scoring leader, and his 48 point game broke the single game scoring record for this school.
