I traveled to Riverview High School to take in the much anticipated District Championship matchup between Riverview and Lincoln Park. The game was a highly competitive one that turned into an instant classic. He hit a shot that they'll be talking about at high school reunions 25 years from now. But let's start at the beginning. Swearingen was forced to create and find shots due to tough D from Lincoln Park. But he responded. Swearingen created looks at the rim off the bounce and even buried a triple with contact, successfully drawing the foul and the 4 point play. Now the end. With the game tied and time running down, everyone knew who was shooting that shot. Swearingen went off balance from a few feet beyond the arc and it was still a no doubter. Ball was good from the release.

Haqq picked and pried at the Riverview defense all night long. In the second half, he figured it out. Haqq attacked the rim relentlessly off the bounce. He did a great job maintaining balance and finishing in traffic. Haqq was getting to the rim so much that he forced a response from Riverview. He was more than key in Lincoln Park's ability to make a 2nd half comeback and even take the lead.

Doyle was huge, especially in the first quarter of the game. He came out of the gates ready to play. Doyle connected on 2 early triples that were big time momentum grabbers. He really did his part in creating the early lead and separation in score. Doyle looked comfortable shooting off the catch and he was a definite factor on the glass.

Harvey was given the tough task of slowing Swearingen. He did an admirable job despite Swearingen's offensive output. Harvey showed grit and determination on the defensive end. He showed that he was an in shape athlete as he really face guarded early and often. Harvey is a strong, quick and explosive athlete.

I thought that Daniels played a key role in the game. He seemed comfortable attacking from the right sice of the floor. Daniels showed a solid jumper when he hit a corner 3 with traffic around him. Daniels utilized body control and balance with an off balance finish around the rim.

I traveled to Riverview High School to take in the much anticipated District Championship matchup between Riverview and Lincoln Park. The game was a highly competitive one that turned into an instant classic. Thanks to some last second Riverview heroics, they took home the district championship.
