Beaumont Westbrook and Leander Glenn battled early last week for the chance to have a berth in the state finals at the SA Alamodome. The beginning of the game started off with both teams evenly matched until Westbrook started to take control midway through the second quarter and they never looked back. Glenn showed some bright spots by getting a few defensive stops every now and then, but once Beaumont got the lead they never looked back and kept their foot on the gas. Ultimately, Westbrook clinched a trip back to state to match up with Frisco Heritage after a 63-35 victory in this game. Here is my overall analysis of some prospects who stood out to me and had a good impact on the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2077355' first='Elijah' last='Garrett'] couldn't be stopped in the game as he sliced and diced his way to the basket, scored contested jumpers from the perimeter and midrange, and found open teammates for quick buckets. Garrett often found himself with isolation coverage on the perimeter and did not hesitate to take advantage of mismatches. He has great court awareness when looking for his team and he knows how to set the pace of the game well with the ball in his hands. Elijah currently has offers from Lamar, Sam Houston, and recently picked up a Southern Miss offer as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2888958' first='[player_tooltip player_id='2854586' first='Austin' last='']' last='Stewart'] found himself in position multiple times to dominate the post during this contest and came away with a near double-double in a huge Bruin victory. Stewart is a physical force under the basket and is key for Westbrook getting second chance points and clutch time rebounds. Stewart runs the floor well in transition as well for his size and fills his lane correctly and this provides him the ability to finish with an efficient rate at the rim.

Orden Roberts was a key force of Glenns' attack especially in the first half. Many of his buckets came from off the dribble shots as he repeatedly found ways to affect the game from the offensive side of the ball. Roberts created well for himself and took advantage of P&R situations as well, involving both himself and the player setting the screen. Orden was key handling the ball under pressure and made sure Glenn stayed composed on both ends.

Christian was a big-time slashing wing for the Bruins during the entire duration of the contest. He repeatedly attacked the paint with aggressiveness and many times if he did not make the basket, he would find himself at the free throw line to cash in from the charity stripe. Haskett has a good motor when it comes to hustling down loose balls and turnovers caused by teammates on defense. He can guard almost any position on the court, showing dynamic versatility and a multi-talented skillset that involves making plays on both offense and defense.
