Triad Standouts: February Week 1 Top Performers (Part 1)

The first week of February brought out some phenomenal performances across the Triad hoops scene. Conference battles and rivalry games saw upperclassmen and underclassmen step up in big moments. Below we highlight five standout players from Triad who delivered top-notch statistical outputs or clutch all-around impact. Here are Part 1's top performers of the week:    Gatling exploded for 32 points and 8 assists in a win over Dudley this week. He shot 59% from the field while orchestrating the Cowboys' offense with poise. It marked his fourth straight game scoring at least a third of Southwest's points, showcasing his ability to take over games with both scoring and playmaking. At 6'0”, Gatling uses a quick first step to attack the rim and has a confident stroke from deep, firmly establishing himself as one of the Triad's elite backcourt talents.     Carmack posted a monster double-double with 17 points and 17 rebounds in a game against Southwest Guilford this week. Despite Dudley's loss, Carmack was relentless in the paint, controlling the boards on both ends. He showed a high motor and physicality, repeatedly outworking opponents for rebounds and second-chance points. Carmack's effort kept Dudley competitive deep into the game. His knack for carving out position and aggressive put-backs highlighted a gritty playing style.     Howze poured in 23 points and 5 rebounds in a victory over Dudley. He attacked the basket aggressively and knocked down open looks to help secure the win. Howze's scoring outburst and physical play on the glass demonstrated his importance as a two-way contributor. He showcased a strong frame and toughness by finishing through contact, and his energy on both ends gave Southwest Guilford a significant boost.     Muirhead delivered 25 points along with 5 rebounds to spark his team to a win over Northeast Guilford this week. Muirhead shot an efficient 50% from the field in the win, displaying confidence and scoring savvy beyond his years. He showed he could take over as a go-to option, knocking down clutch shots and attacking the basket when his team needed it most. His breakout performance, featuring smooth three-point shooting and fearless drives, solidified him as a rising star to watch in the Triad.     Watson made an impact on both ends with 12 points (5–8 FG) and 3 steals in the Falcons' win over Northeast Guilford. Watson provided stifling perimeter defense, collecting 3 steals for his third straight game. He also knocked down timely shots, stretching the defense when defenders collapsed. Watson's ability to hit open threes and create turnovers proved pivotal in a tightly contested game. His two-way contributions, efficient shooting and pesky on-ball defense, were key factors that helped Southeast Guilford get the win.
