On Tuesday February 3rd I watched the replay of 6A Queen Creek Bulldogs hosting the 6A Highland Hawks. The Hawks are clearly locked in for the OPEN playoffs while the Bulldogs are a young rebuilding program who will miss out on the playoffs this season.

I checked out all three levels with Freshman, JV and Varsity.

Here were the standouts on the night

All the stats are unofficial.

Freshman Game (55-43 Highland won)

[player_tooltip player_id='3474363' first='Liam' last='Freeman'] Highland

A tough lefty scoring guard likes getting downhill to score. He likes using the floater game often and he handles contact well. He moves his feet well to contain his opponents and will even block shots with great activity. He scored 12+ points.

[player_tooltip player_id='3474366' first='Cash' last='Horne'] Highland

A pure point guard is almost a throwback. The lefty sees plays developing quickly and will thread it in with next level dimes thru the defense. He had multiple live dribble passes making him very easy to play with. He has a quick burst to the paint and racked up 7+ assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='3474368' first='Jamarien' last='Johnson'] Queen Creek

A tough two-way point guard shows great timing on his passes as an advanced passer. He is a natural downhill type with his thicker frame. He is a capable three point shooter and a tough on-ball defender moving his feet quickly. He scored 10+ points.

[player_tooltip player_id='3474377' first='JC' last='Lowery'] Queen Creek

The longest forward in the building has length for days. At only six-foot three he has maybe a six-foot six wingspan. He moves fluidly from end to end and he is a natural defender covering a lot of ground in space and grabbing rebounds and blocking shots.

Junior Varsity Game (56-43 Highland won)

[player_tooltip player_id='2949466' first='Chase' last='Crandall'] Highland

A highly skilled combo guard handles it well and he will create offense for himself and others. The lefty has a nice touch from the three point line with off the catch or off the dribble and he will also fall away from mid-range. He scored 15+ points.

[player_tooltip player_id='3474353' first='Brody' last='Knollmiller'] Highland

A very strong freshmen forward is a downhill scorer who will make tough shots in traffic using his frame. He will score with hook shots, he rebounds well in his area and blocks shots. He has a nice free throw touch and is a sneaky good passer. He scored 10+ points.

[player_tooltip player_id='3474354' first='Beckett' last='Gaylord'] Highland

A scoring point guard who is looking to put points on the board. His pull-up is very polished from mid-range but he is a capable three point shooter. He can get downhill with good body control. He can be a pure point guard but likes to fill it up.

[player_tooltip player_id='3474748' first='Will' last='Brimie'] Highland

A thicker small forward who loves attacking towards the basket. He likes getting downhill using that thicker frame and can fall away from mid-range. He is also a sneaky good passer and will carve out space to rebound. He scored around 10 points.

Varsity Game (73-45 Highland won)

[player_tooltip player_id='2291974' first='Nick' last='Reber'] Highland (Pictured)

The star of the night was clearly Reber. He got his teammates involved with some next level passes and scored it. He loves driving using his strong frame and will rip thru and go to work. He will hit the three off the catch and play the passing lanes for steals and layups. He finished with a game high of 18 points with a few assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='1873684' first='Tyson' last='Crandall'] Highland

The cerebral and highly skilled guard moved the ball more and played more of a point role in this outing. He facilitated like you should with some next level passes and still scored it. He had a couple parking lot ranged threes and will be heavily relied on come playoff time.

[player_tooltip player_id='2291967' first='Kyle' last='Bogart'] Highland

The big man dominated the glass and had close to 10 rebounds. He corrals the ball at its highest point in and out of his area showing off a motor. He was aggressive in stretches towards the basket to score and will score with finish with offensive rebound put backs.

[player_tooltip player_id='2674067' first='Tyson' last='Cutchen'] Highland

A somewhat breakout game for the long and lean center. He is a fluid mover and played the dunkers spot perfectly with some high flying dunks. He gobbles up boards and will score with put backs off the glass. He is a sneaky good passer and finished with 13 points and a bunch of rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='1734007' first='Talon' last='Knollmiller'] Highland

Talon got the start in this contest and it proved to be a great move. He rattled in three triples with picture perfect shooting form and squares up as quickly as you can and releases the ball. He moves without the ball and can also get a step on his defender to the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='2107110' first='Hudson' last='Yang'] Queen Creek

A scoring guard is a transfer from Hamilton and he was there go-to player all game in this tough match-up for the Bulldogs. He has a nice looking stroke with off the dribble and catch threes with some flair and he can pull-up from mid-range off the dribble. He finished with a team high of 14 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='3148675' first='Jackson' last='Ronning'] Queen Creek

An athletic power forward who lives off the glass and grabs offensive rebounds in and out of his area or he will get fouled. He is working on a drop step move and he can step out and shoot the three. He runs the floor well and shows upside with his springs. He scored close to 10 points.
