Beaverton sits at 12-11 with a final game of the season coming up Friday against Jesuit. Mungai believes that his team is ready to make some noise in next week's state playoffs. "We've had some really close losses this year, so our ranking (#23 in the OSAA computer polls) doesn't truly show who we are as a team. The competitive spirit in our group is night & day from last season & our league will have us ready to compete against anyone that we might face in March." Our win at Jesuit earlier in the year, was a great team effort that showed us that all of our hard work was worth it."

As for his personal recruiting, Mungai has an offer from Linfield, as well as regular interest from other D3 programs such as George Fox, Pacific Lutheran & D2 schools such as Alaska Fairbanks. "I'm excited to continue to show college coaches how much I've improved since last year & what type of player I'm capable of being in their programs." "I'm looking for a competitive basketball program that will push me everyday to become a better person & player. A good academic school that will give the tools to be a successful adult is also a big part of the decision."

Mungai is averaging right around 17 points, 3 rebounds, & 3 assists per game on the season. He's shooting over 50% on two point shots & in the high 30% range from the three point line, impressive considering how much of the offensive load he's had to carry for Beaverton this season. It's obvious in watching him play this season, how much time he spent in the weight room in the off season, as he's much more explosive on both ends of the floor.
