Prep Hoops/Zaleski Sports Teams of the Week
In this article:
Each week during the high school season, Prep Hoops Wisconsin and Zaleski Sports will select boys' basketball teams of the week across the WIAA's five divisions. Here are this week's honored squads.
DIVISION 1 ... D.C. EVEREST
The Evergreens extended their winning streak to 16 games with three wins last week. D.C. Everest posted key Wisconsin Valley Conference triumphs over Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln (81-45) and Stevens Point (62-49) while also traveling to Hudson and notching an 84-59 win over the Big Rivers-leading Raiders. Coach Jake Schalow's club has a one-game lead over second-place Marshfield with two league games left in the Wisconsin Valley. Although not a deep team, D.C. Everest gets tremendous balance from its key players. Senior

also chipped in 12. In the come-from-behind win at Stevens Point, Truax led the way with 19 points while Edwards came close to a triple double, finishing with nine points, 10 assists and nine rebounds. D.C. Everest has game at Mosinee (Tuesday) and Wausau East (Friday) this week.
DIVISION 2 ... WEST SALEM
The Coulee Conference juggernaut appears well on its way to yet another outright conference title. The Panthers won another Coulee Conference game last week to improve to 10-0 in conference play. They have clinched at least a tie for their fifth straight league championship and a win over either Arcadia or Viroqua this week will result in an outright title for coach Shane Schmeling's program. West Salem takes an 18-2 mark into action this week, which includes an intriguing non-league outing Thursday with Onalaska. West Salem defeated Richland Center (79-54) and Westby (90-52) last week with five players scoring in double figures in each outing.
DIVISION 3 ... BRILLION
The Lions are hot on the prowl to winning the Eastern Wisconsin Conference title and got closer to that lofty accomplishment last week with a big league win over New Holstein. Coach Chad Shimek's team is 11-0 in conference play, one game ahead of second-place Roncalli. Those two teams meet in Manitowoc on Friday with plenty on the line. Brillion takes a 17-3 mark into games against Kiel and Roncalli this week. In the 82-54 win over New Holstein, junior forward Colten Larson finished with 27 points and five rebounds while teammate

DIVISION 5 ... PACELLI
The Cardinals clinched the title in the Central Wisconsin South Conference with two wins over second-place Tri-County last week. Both outings went down to the wire with junior Blake Flaker of Pacelli hitting a three-point basket as the final buzzer sounded to give the Cardinals a 49-46 win in Stevens Point on Tuesday. A couple of days later, the Cardinals went to Plainfield and registered a 64-61 overtime triumph. Pacelli, which starts five underclassmen, is 10-0 in league play, but has had a tough time in non-league outings, losing all 12 of its games outside of the conference. Flaker, juniors
