Junior Varsity Basketball- Indianapolis Homeschool Wildcats

I had the pleasure of watching these homeshool players dominate the competition yesterday evening. Traders Point Christian had no answers for them on defense.    Jacob showcased his ability as a great all around player in the match-up against Traders Point Christian. He's an excellent scorer who found ways of being effective from every level of the basketball court. Whether it's attacking the basket, converting mid-range jumpers or stepping out beyond the three-point line, Jacob was a major scoring threat. He played like "a man among boys" in the paint. Jacob used a variety of moves to easily score around the basket. Some of those scores lead to fouls through contact and three-point play opportunities. Jacob is an excellent free-throw shooter who stepped to the line and completed every conversion. On defense, he gets into the body of his opponents. He blocked shots and protected the paint. On some occasions, he guarded players on the wing and did an effective job. Jacob is an excellent player who proved he could be hard to handle for opposing defenses.     Abe is a scorer! He showed a nice dribble and drive game to go along with excellent shooting skills. He's a great ball handler who had a knack for making plays when he attacked to the basket. Abe is a great passer. The majority of his assists led to high percentage shots for other Homeschool players. As I said, this young man is a shooter! Abe has a little flare to his game. He often knocked down shots in flashy ways. Abe was great at using a variety of ball handling moves to free himself for good looks at the basket. I appreciated the extreme confidence he showed on the basketball court. Whenever he made a big shot, his energy seemed to inject life into his teammates. Abe has unlimited range and it showed in their match-up against Traders Point Christian. He showed the ability to make shots from mid as well as long range. Abe's scoring ability could lead him to a promising basketball career.     Caleb's play on the court exemplified how a player should give their all for the team. After watching him play, I grew an appreciation for how much effort he gave to help his teammates win. Caleb was great at attacking the basket. This led to him scoring most of his points on dribble drives. He's an excellent shooter who's capable of knocking down mid-range shots despite being closely guarded by opposing defenders. Caleb had a knack of scoring tough baskets in the paint. Whenever there was an opportunity to extend his range beyond the three-point line, Caleb knocked them down. His enthusiasm for making plays instantly energized his teammates. Defensively, Caleb was all over the court making plays. He blocked a shot, took charges and forced numerous turnovers.     Jonny is a good ball handler who gets to the basket and finds teammates for easy scores. He easily broke down Traders Point Christian defenders and made plays. Jonny is a flashy passer who showed a knack for throwing pin-point assists. The majority of his passes led to positive outcomes for the team. He excelled at pushing the pace whenever Homeschool had opportunities to score baskets in transition. Jonny is a great finisher when he attacks he paint. The majority of the points came off dribble drives to the rim. Whether it was scoring lay-ups or knocking down floaters, Jonny was hard to guard with the ball in his hands. When the Traders Point Christian defense gave him open looks from three, he showed the confidence to knock them down. Defensively, Jonny was great at pressing opposing guards into turnovers. He's a promising player who has the skills required to succeed in the game of basketball.     Parm is an excellent ball handler who excelled at making plays for his teammates. He easily drove past defenders, attacked the paint and dished off assists that lead to scores for other Homeschool players. Whenever he attacked the paint, they usually ended with floaters or driving lay-ups. Parm also showed his ability as a shooter. In isolated situations, he used great dribbling moves to clear the space he needed for open looks. There were a couple of instances in the game where Parm brought the ball up-court, stopped at the three-point line and knocked them down. This showed his prowess as a legitimate threat from behind the arc. Parm will continue to grow as an all around player. He already has the ability to be a scorer and play-maker. Just imagine how good he could become as his game continues to progress.
