Early Recruiting

The timetable for recruiting high school basketball players keeps getting pushed frustratingly back. More than ever players are signing and committing in May, June, even late summer to colleges. It is ridiculous that they have to wait that long. Regardless, some juniors are fortunate enough to draw college recruiting attention. This bunch of 2027's are among those.

[player_tooltip player_id='2633420' first='Ivan' last='Moskalenko'] visited Tennessee Tech University in October. He also visited Lipscomb University that same day. Both D1 programs are smart to get in early on Ivan because the forward is multi-skilled and tall.

North Alabama offered junior forward [player_tooltip player_id='2781134' first='Christian' last='Coleman'] of Collierville High. Coleman is the rare kind of athlete that will attract D1 and D2 attention throughout his high school days. PrepHoopsTN is ahead of the pack on Coleman and quite confident colleges will catch up in the next four months.

Knoxville Catholic brought in three top transfers to bolster their team in [player_tooltip player_id='1959161' first='Cade' last='Murphy']'s senior season. One of them is [player_tooltip player_id='2470563' first='Landon' last='Lee'], formerly from Virginia. Lee is not a finished product, but he is tall and that was enough to entice both Radford University and Lees-McRae to extend offers already. Fans and college coaches will get to see a lot more of Lawson during his 17u AAU season and his senior season at Knox Catholic next year.

[player_tooltip player_id='2402058' first='Ashby' last='Chadwick'] (Tri-Cities Christian) is considering his two offers: King University, Milligan University. King is located in Bristol, Tennessee very near to Ashby's house. Milligan offered him way back in June of 2024 when his high school team starred on their campus. Milligan University is coached by Bill Robinson and they have three Tennessee-raised hoopers on their squad right now: Elijah Bredwood, Grant Hensley, Zack Turner.

The top forward in the class, Brentwood High's [player_tooltip player_id='2376260' first='Davis' last='Cochran'], already gained numerous Division One offers. The list is long and absolutely not finalized. Look for it to expand. Currently, Austin Peay, Belmont, Iona, Lipscomb University, Samford, San Jose State, Stetson, UT Martin all offered him.

[player_tooltip player_id='2750445' first='Omarii' last='Sanders'] (Franklin Road Academy) verbally committed to Vanderbilt University for football.

About 15-20 of the power forwards in the junior class will play college basketball at some level though 3+ appear to be headed to college football, including Sanders.

For example, [player_tooltip player_id='2358523' first='Parker' last='Newman'] (Sevier County) recently earned offers from Michigan and Colorado. He will obviously head that route after high school. For now he rebounds at an elite level for the Smoky Bears.
