Friday night at Freeman had a playoff feel to it.

From the opening tip, you could tell this wasn't going to be a casual regular-season matchup. Both teams came out with edge and urgency. Their defensive intensity made every catch and every dribble feel contested. The game was full of momentum swings. Shot-making occurred on both ends. Freeman protected its home court. It was one of the more entertaining battles we've seen this season.

Deep Run showed exactly why they're considered one of the most dangerous shooting teams in the area. The Wildcats spaced the floor, moved the ball with purpose, and were lethal from behind the arc. Every defensive lapse was punished. On the other side, Freeman did what good teams do — they played to their strengths. They got to their spots and attacked downhill. They consciously fed the hot hand when it mattered most.

That hot hand belonged to [player_tooltip player_id='2898030' first='Abram' last='Schrinel'].

Abram continued to build his case as one of the premier players in the region with a dominant, efficient performance. He finished with 29 points. He had 10-18 shooting from the field and 9-12 from the free throw line. He also added 5 rebounds. More than just the numbers, it was how he controlled the game that stood out.

He scored inside through contact. He handled the ball in space. He attacked closeouts and got two feet in the paint. At times, he even slid over to the point guard spot, creating for himself and others when Freeman needed stability. His ability to play multiple positions and impact the game in different ways continues to elevate his stock.

Schrinel's growth as a ball handler and decision-maker has added another layer to his game. He isn't just a scorer — he's becoming a true matchup problem. Another big summer is ahead with [program_tooltip program_id='3424568' first='Team' last='Loaded Gold']. He's the type of versatile wing college coaches are constantly searching for. Friday night only strengthened that narrative.

[player_tooltip player_id='3319022' first='Bennett' last='Friday'] once again proved why he's one of the more under-the-radar bigs in the area. If you watch him play, you can't help but appreciate his motor. He competes on every possession.

A double-double threat every time he steps on the floor, Friday does the dirty work that wins games. He finishes strong around the rim, has a soft touch on floaters in the paint, and embraces physical play. Defensively, he anchors the interior with length and toughness, altering shots and securing key rebounds in traffic.

He may not always grab headlines, but his consistency and effort make him invaluable. Coaches love players they can trust — and Friday is exactly that.

On the Deep Run side, Jack Dobranski reminded everyone why he's one of the best shooters in the region.

He was a constant threat from three-point range all season. His quick release forces defenses to stay attached at all times. His ability to relocate without the ball is also crucial. Give him even a sliver of space and it's likely going up — and likely going in.

While he may not have overwhelming size, his skill level and shooting efficiency more than compensate. Dobranski's presence alone stretches the defense and opens up driving lanes for teammates. He continues to be one of the primary scoring options for Deep Run and showed it again in this matchup.

Tyler Verity continues to be the engine that makes Deep Run go.

The lead guard plays with poise and strength. He excels at getting downhill, finishing through contact, and making plays when the defense collapses. His change of pace keeps defenders off balance. He knows when to attack versus when to pull up.

Verity's jumper is reliable, especially when defenders go under screens or lose him in transition. Defensively, he competes and has clearly added strength over the last year, which has helped round out his overall game. He impacts both ends and plays with toughness that sets the tone for his team.

Final Thoughts

This game highlighted why covering high school basketball in the area is so enjoyable. Shot-making. Physical defense. Momentum swings. Players stepping up in big moments.

Deep Run showed why they're one of the top shooting teams around. They demonstrated their ability to beat anyone on a given night. Freeman, however, proved they can win in different ways. They can win through physicality. They can also succeed by feeding their star. Alternatively, they get timely contributions across the board.

As the postseason approaches, both teams look more than capable of making noise. And if this matchup was any indication, nobody will be looking forward to seeing either of them in March.
