really knew what would be the best spot for him at the college level. So while other schools had been in contact with the athletic 6-foot-5 wing from Sherwood, there really wasn't any more need to wait. Over the weekend Rygh thought things through one last time and picked up the phone to call OIT to tell them he'd be a Hustlin' Owl.
For Rygh, it really went back to when he made a trip to see campus down in Klamath Falls earlier this fall. "When I went down to my visit, it was a really good visit down there," Rygh said. "The culture was really good and I got to watch a game, which was nice. And the coaches and the players, and just the community was really nice. I really feel like home over there, so it was really easy to pick my decision."
Culturally it was a fit, but he liked how he could fit in on the basketball floor as well. "They play fast and they play some good defense, too," Rygh said. "I think it's going to help me get faster on D and I think I'm going to be able to give my offense a game, too."
The commitment from Rygh continues an established pipeline of Sherwood Bowmen down to K-Falls - something he's proud of continuing. "We see (for OIT Hustlin' Owl) Jamison (Guerra) at Idaho State and we've got Jared (Sucher) - he dropped like 25 the other night," Rygh said. "It's going to be really nice as he's going to be able to mentor me a little bit. It's going to be a good journey."
With his decision in the books, Rygh fully puts his attention on the rest of the season - one in which Sherwood's goal continues to be breaking through and making it to the 6A state tournament at the Chiles Center.
"It's going good - we're ranked fifth right now and it's one of the best seasons I think I've been a part of," Rygh said. "I think our team chemistry has been like the best in my opinion and we're halfway through league. League is league , so we just got to get through that, then we get to our first round (of the playoffs)."
Our congratulations go out to Rygh and his family on his decision. He currently ranks as the #8 player in the Class of 2026 rankings.
