In a gritty, possession-by-possession battle that felt like it could swing on every touch, Wenonah survived Sipsey Valley 48–44 in an Elite 8 showdown that had the gym on edge until the final horn. Sipsey Valley had a clean look from deep late to steal it, and the shot was in the air, the crowd was holding its breath, but the shot rattled out. Just like that, the Dragons were Final 4 bound. This was not a pretty, free-flowing offensive showcase. It was physical. It was strategic. It was a chess match against a stubborn zone that forced toughness and poise to the forefront. And these were the names that defined the night…

Despite not having an efficient outing, Brendon still managed enough point production to help his squad punch their ticket to Birmingham. He struggled from behind the arc but was able to get penetration into the heart of the defense and find scoring opportunities, which he capitalized on while also showcasing his playmaking abilities. Sipsey Valley's zone defense stifled the Dragons.

After the scoring outburst he had in the Sweet 16, Santez also appeared to be affected by the zone that Sipsey Valley played. He was still able to show his ability to score inside the arc and finish in traffic. He makes his presence felt when he gets paint touches, as he has nimble footwork, really good hands, and he understands how to maneuver in crowds.

He made big shots from behind the arc, but it was his ability to be an interior presence on defense and protect the rim that made it hard for Wenonah to get quality looks. He showed he can get his own shot off the dribble, has a nice mid-range game, shot it well from behind the arc, and used his size and strength to create space for his shot.
