WBCA/Prep Hoops Poll for week of January 5
Wisconsin Lutheran is the definitive No. 1-ranked team among WIAA Division 1 schools as the Vikings garnered all nine first-place votes from coaches throughout the state in this week's Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association/Prep Hoops Wisconsin boys' basketball poll.
The Vikings are coming off three impressive victories in the Beach Ball Classic in South Carolina and take a 9-0 record into Tuesday's non-league matchup with dangerous Nicolet.
In Division 2, Onalaska held on to the top spot by the slimmest of margins over Slinger. The Hilltoppers were forced to cancel two games over the Christmas break due to rampant illness in their program while Slinger posted impressive wins over Arrowhead and Oshkosh North. Beaver Dam zoomed from being unranked to the No. 4 spot after posting four wins, including an impressive 76-65 triumph over Waterford.
Seymour holds a slight edge over neighboring Freedom in the Division 3 poll. Both teams are undefeated and both have registered impressive victories inside and outside of league play.
Milwaukee Juneau kept its firm hold on the top spot in Division 4 after winning two games at the Iverson Classic against out-of-state squads.
Sheboygan Lutheran took over the No. 1-ranking in Division 5 after posting a 65-59 win over University School to improve to 8-1. Meanwhile, previously top-ranked North Crawford dropped a 69-59 decision to Northwestern to fall from the unbeaten ranks.
