Prep Hoops Missouri got on its Magical Stream Machine on Tuesday night to watch a great rivalry game between Hayti and South Pemiscot in the SEMO area. From time to time, we like to concentrate on one great matchup of the night. On this particular evening, we are taking a look at this two small-school rivals in the boot heel. I watched these two teams play each other in the Class 2 district playoffs last season and it was a great game. I thought I would take a look at the rematch and I was not disappointed.

The game lived up to its billing as Hayti came away with a 66-63 victory. Hayti had built a 12-point lead in the second half, but South Pemiscot stormed back to take the lead in the fourth quarter, which sent their fans into a frenzy. To Hayti's credit, they withstood South Pem's big surge and emerged with the big road victory. What was more impressive was that they won it without one of their top players in 6'3" 2027 guard [player_tooltip player_id='2528029' first='Nicolai' last='Combat'], who was out with an injury.

As we take a look at the game, we bring back an old feature with our Top Five Stars of the game.

NO. 1 STAR: LEDON WEBB (HAYTI)

The 6'0" 2027 guard scored a game-high 28 points and made six 3-pointers on the evening. The biggest of the six came with just over two minutes left which gave Hayti a 61-59 lead right after the Indians lost the lead. The building was at a fever pitch when Webb hit his game-changing shot. He was on fire from long distance as he was hitting shots off the catch and off the dribble. He also sealed the victory with four free throws in the closing seconds.

NO. 2 STAR: TY CAMPBELL (SOUTH PEMISCOT)

The 5'11" 2027 guard scored a team-high 21 points, with much of the damage he did coming in the fourth quarter. He was the main catalyst in South Pem coming back from its 12-point deficit to take a brief fourth-quarter lead. As usual, his motor was running hot every second he was on the floor. He was slashing in the lane for buckets in traffic. He also got offensive rebounds for putbacks. He was also getting transition buckets off the furious full court press in the fourth quarter.

NO. 3 STAR: J'VONTA PAYNE (HAYTI):

The 6'0 2026 guard scored 16 points, including his 1,000th career point in the first half. He had an excellent first half as he helped Hayti to its early advantage. He is an athletic guard who was getting buckets at all three levels. He was creating off the dribble very well as he was knocking down mid-range jumper and floaters in the lane. He also made a pair of 3-pointers during the game.

NO. 4 STAR: LOGAN SOUTHERN (SOUTH PEMISCOT)

A 2026 guard who scored 13 points while playing with great hustle and effort throughout the game. He made three 3-pointers, with two of them coming on back to back possessions in the second quarter. At 6'0" he was undersized, but he got things done because he never stopped working. He was battling for rebounds and chasing down loose balls throughout the game.

NO. 5 STARS: PARKER CARLISLE (SOUTH PEMISCOT)/KEANTHONY TAYLOR (HAYTI)

These two players on opposing teams share the No. 5 star for the game. Carlisle is a 2026 guard who scored 10 points on the evening. He is known for his 3-point shooting, but he hit only one triple on this night. He got a couple of buckets off the dribble attacking close outs. He also got himself to the free throw line by attacking the basket.

Taylor is a 6'5" 2027 forward who was the best athlete on the floor. He came off the bench and immediately made things happen. He used his athleticism and length and rebound and block shots very effectively. He also scored six points off the bench. He also runs the court with ease in transition.
