At the beginning of September we had 235 players to rank for the 2028 class and we are now at 255.

24 players are new and some have moved to different states, focused on different sports, and went into the 2027 or 29 class.

Of the 24 new players, 4 only fell in the top-25 and the other 15 fell in the top-200. The other 5 were in the top 255.

Our goal at PrepHoopsAZ is to try and recognize anyone who may play college basketball. We will keep searching for new players in preseason camps/events/leagues/Prep Hoops Circuit, Arizona Top-250 EXPO, my personal Southwest Basketball Camp and during the AIA/CAA/OTE/NIBC/EIBC/Grind Session seasons.

1. Rankings are based on a lot of things. Production, size for position, college coaches, the eye test, ability to score and defend, instincts, IQ, how a player moves, speed, ball handling, shooting, fundamentals. length and possible upside. It is not the easiest thing to do since not all players play in the same leagues for AAU and HS. They can be in the CAA, Grind Session, EIBC, OTE and the AIA obviously has different levels. Plus AAU teams may play on National Circuits (3SSB, UAA and EYBL) or play on independent or up and coming circuits (Pangos, NxtPro, EYCL, UAA Rise, Prep Hoops, WCE, New Balance, The Stage and so on). So you put all that information together and create the rankings.

2. The reality is if the player has not grown in height, has not improved his shooting, athleticism, IQ for the game is the same, he is not a top-tier defender and he is undersized for his position, he probably dropped in the rankings. Does he have a main top of the food chain skill? If so, does he do anything else to separate himself from the others at his craft?

3. Remember to look at your position and not the overall rankings. Colleges look for specific positions to fill out their roster, not necessarily the top players period. If you are a Top-5 at your personal position, the odds are, you will play college basketball at some level and maybe even D1. If you are Top-10 depending on the group you will potentially play college basketball at some level. And so on.

3. Of the 255 players we have 70 PG's, 47 SG's, 47 CG's, 54 SF's, 28 PF's and 9 C's.
