Prep Hoops Missouri spent its Saturday watching the action at the Midwest Showdown Shootout at St Louis Community College at Meramec. The tournament was presented by Terrell Ramey of Ramey Basketball.

Here is a look at a group of under the radar players who commanded more attention with their play at Saturday's event,

[player_tooltip player_id='2701094' first='Aiden' last='Stevenson'] (Cardinal Ritter): The 5'10" 2027 point guard was terrific in the Lions' victory over Nicolet (WI) in the last game of the event. He scored a team-high 20 points in the victory. He really kept his team in the game early with some excellent 3-point shooting. He was also using his speed and quickness to beat defenders on straight line drives. He could come off screens to hit jumper or score on iso situations. He also delivered some nice dimes. He played with great energy throughout the game in helping the Lions pull off the big win.

*******

[player_tooltip player_id='2417877' first='John' last='Hawkins'] (SLUH): The 6'5" 2027 guard got the event off to a strong start with a 25-point performance in the Jr. Bills victory over Breese Mater Dei. He has very good positional size and scoring ability from all three levels. He knocked down four 3-pointers in the game. He also did a good job of working inside on the drive and getting himself to the free throw line, where he had 10 attempts. In a league such as the Metro Catholic Conference that is the home of many talented players, he is emerging as an excellent young prospect with each game.

******

[player_tooltip player_id='2334951' first='Xavier' last='Clark'] (St Mary's): The 6'1" 2027 guard took home Player of the Game honors after the Dragons impressive victory over Springfield Sacred Heart Griffin. He plays with such great energy at both ends of the court and it helps fuel the rest of his teammates. He is at his best when he is on the attack and he finishes well at the rim. He was also very effective in the transition game. He finished the game with a team-high 17 points.

Kyron Jackson (CBC): The 5'11" 2027 guard had a big offensive performance in getting Player of the Game honors in the Cadets' victory over Memphis Business Academy. He scored a game-high 25 points to lead CBC. He displayed some smooth handles and three-level scoring ability. He had things going from 3-point range as he hit three triples. He is emerging as a consistent offensive threat after enjoying some strong performances at the Webster Classic last week.

******

[player_tooltip player_id='2239022' first='Khalil' last='Crain'] (Vashon): A 6'1" 2027 guard who had a solid game with 10 points in the featured game of the night against Kankakee. He has a good skill set that compliments the perimeter shooting of his teammates. The young lefty is an excellent slashing threat who can slice into the lane and score in tight quarters. His pull up jumper is also very effective if a defender drops back on him.

******

Phillip Jones (East St Louis): A 6'1" 2027 point guard who has settled in well at East St. Louis after transferring across the river from University City. He scored 13 points in the Flyers' victory over 21st Century (IN). His playmaking and passing skills were good, but he can also score as shown by his 13 points on Saturday. He had some nice finishes in the lane and he was elevating well on his jumper from the mid-range. He also hit a nice 3-pointer while on the move.

******

[player_tooltip player_id='2218071' first='Marvin' last='Neals'] (St Mary's): The 5'10" 2026 point guard had a strong all-around game in the Dragons' victory over Sacred Heart Griffin with 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists. He's quick and he was scoring on some nice penetrating drives to the basket. He is a pass-first point guard, but he has been on a very good scoring run during the past four games, where he is averaging about 15 points a game. He helps fuel the Dragons' defense with his tenacity and on-ball pressure.
