The rivalry game of the Maizes last night (12/12/25) was a close, nip & tuck battle that didn't see any sort of significant separation until right before halftime, which was 24-20. Even after halftime, the Maize South Mavericks kept on making it interesting against the Eagles through pure will and determination. Ultimately, the Eagles prevailed 49-41 through consistent perimeter defense and elite play at the guard positions, with a jam-packed crowd in attendance Friday night. Here are the 2 stars of the night that showed winning gamesmanship, the right aggression, and elite athleticism on the court tonight.

(#2 for Maize Eagles) Elite two-way Point guard with extreme quickness, long arms, and good lateral movement. Brayden displayed that he was Tier 1 on the athleticism charts against Maize South by dominating his areas of the floor throughout the night. His size and command of the rock at Point is a tough task for anyone in the district to handle consistently. The Mavericks had to put their Big on him so things could level out a bit. He plays consistently on Defence at all levels, especially in press coverage in the backcourt, and his switchability onto Bigs defensively was seamless. His length, strength, and leaping ability allow the Maize Eagles to rotate efficiently on Defence without skipping a beat. He is active on the boards on both ends and looks to help defend at the rim often.

(#1 for Maize South Mavericks) Good energy player, always gives max effort when going for 50/50 balls and has a tendency to never give up on plays. Paxton is quicker and faster than he looks, shoots well, and more importantly, he plays the game with high IQ and good instincts. Shows good leadership and galvanizes his team to compete. Paxton is the type of Point Guard that will always keep you in games with or without stats.
