Campo Verde pulls away vs Notre Dame Prep

On Friday Dec 12th I attended the match-up of 5A Campo Verde Coyotes hosting the 5A Notre Dampe Prep Saints. The Coyotes are one of the better teams in 5A and the Saints will be making the 5A playoffs.   I checked out all three levels with Freshman, JV and Varsity.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here were the standouts on the night </h2>   Freshman Game (62-38 Campo Verde won)   [player_tooltip player_id='2878046' first='Coleton' last='Hedges'] Campo Verde   A true combo guard with some size, feel and scoring ability. He has deep three point range with an easy stroke. He is a plus rebounder and good passer. He can get downhill with step thrus, reverse layups, spin moves to the basket, offensive rebound put backs and tough drives to the basket. He scored a team high 24 points in only 3 quarters and played on varsity. (He just got back from an injury)   [player_tooltip player_id='3221095' first='Logan' last='Westover'] Campo Verde   A scoring point guard is one of the top shooters in the program. The ball comes off his hands easily from the three point line and has good pace to his game. He will move the ball and needle thread the defense for an assist. He uses the pick and roll game and he is good passer in traffic with his left or right hand. He will score with mid-range pull-ups and scores with floaters and running layups. He is also quick in the passing lanes to collect steals. He scored 14 points.   [player_tooltip player_id='3221115' first='Luke' last='Tefteller'] Campo Verde   A tough point guard with a quick release from the three point line. He has a thicker frame and he is a great rebounder for his size and position and quicker hands on defense. He is very strong with that football grit. He will advance pass up the court impressively and gets the team into their offense.   [player_tooltip player_id='3221102' first='Anderson' last='Theurer'] Campo Verde    A guard/wing is the teams top on-ball defender. He is an out of area rebounder and he can score. He will cut without the ball, he is good in transition, he can fall away in the post and is efficient around the hoop with a nice touch. He scored 9 points.    [player_tooltip player_id='3221076' first='Ben' last='Atabala'] Notre Dame Prep    An undersized point guard is quick on quick to burst past his initial defenders. He has an ultimate quick trigger from the three and has great court vision. He makes every read in the book with slips into the defense, drive and kicks, dump offs in the paint and up the court passes. He can also get to the basket and he is a sneaky good rebounder. He scored 23 of their 38.   Junior Varsity Game (64-49 Campo Verde won)   [player_tooltip player_id='2953146' first='Madden' last='Bray'] Campo Verde    A good sized combo guard who can score. He plays the game from the neck up with a big IQ. He will score it with runners, catch and shoot threes, ball fakes and smartly plays off of two-feet. He can drive and kick it and he has a stronger frame for a freshman. He will rebound and even block shots inside.    [player_tooltip player_id='2767688' first='Weston' last='Rigby'] Campo Verde    A decent sized wing forward with a good frame. He will score with threes off the catch or pull, hit the mid-range jumper, dribble downhill and rebounds at a good clip in his area. He will block shots, runs the floor and plays a cerebral game.    [player_tooltip player_id='2724509' first='Jonah' last='Brumbaugh'] Notre Dame Prep    An undersized PG directs traffic and will score it. He is a knockdown three point shooter and has a burst to get to the basket. He will also stop and pop from mid-range to score but his shooting from deep makes him go. He scored 15+ points.   [player_tooltip player_id='2724508' first='Jackson' last='Warner'] Notre Dame Prep   A bigger scoring guard is a three point shooter off the catch. He has a quicker release and big confidence. He is a good passer up the court and plays with an unselfish attitude. He rebounds well in his area and shows upside.      Varsity Game (73-58 Campo Verde won)   [player_tooltip player_id='2427680' first='Conner' last='Tefteller'] Campo Verde   A pure point guard who keeps improving as a scorer. He is one of the better passers in the junior class and he showed off in stretches. The lefty is a pick and roll stud and threads the ball in perfectly on time over and over. He will score with floaters, he can stop and pop from the three, handle some contact with and-1's and changes speeds really well. He gets to his spots and will pull-up off the dribble from mid-range. He had an impressive state line of 20 points with 6+ rebounds and 5+ assists.   [player_tooltip player_id='2291968' first='Carter' last='Pratchard'] Campo Verde    The big man has grown in size and become stronger in the last year. He is a baseball player by nature but he is a very good basketball player as well. He can shoot the three off the catch and he is tough inside. He will score with pick and roll finishes using that strong frame and will score with offensive rebound put backs. He scored 13 points with many rebounds.      [player_tooltip player_id='2291976' first='Collin' last='Kvamme'] Campo Verde    A scoring lead guard who is a deep three point shooter form the parking lot with a lightning quick release. He is a quick driver with his left hand and a sneaky good rebounder and will take charges. He reads the court well and scored 14 points with four 3's made including a clutch one with two minutes to play to pull away.    [player_tooltip player_id='2767427' first='Bronson' last='Hedges'] Campo Verde   A bigger combo guard with a super quick three point release. He has a sneaky fast burst to get to the basket to score or get fouled using his size and ball handling. He smartly plays off of two-feet and will rise up from mid-range. He scored 10 points.   [player_tooltip player_id='2767975' first='Luke' last='Bates'] Campo Verde   A scoring guard who grew a little in the last year. He comes in off the bench and brings some energy and skill to the court. He will ball fake and burst past his initial defenders for layups and he has a polished mid-range jumper which looks to be his sweet spot. He scored 8 points.    [player_tooltip player_id='2457882' first='Gage' last='McDowell'] Campo Verde    A wing forward who brings a motor and toughness. He will score with cuts to the basket, moves without the ball and he is a plus rebounder for his size with his athleticism and motor. He scored 6 points.     [player_tooltip player_id='2107122' first='Sami' last='Sibai'] Notre Dame Prep    An undersized scoring point guard runs the show for the team. He has great open court speed and can defend. He will take charges as he can beat his opponent to their spots. He gets deflections and collects steals. He will score it with threes off the catch or pull, floaters and speed dribble drives. He scored a team high 16 points with multiple assists and steals.   [player_tooltip player_id='1917869' first='Ethan' last='Sobik'] Notre Dame Prep   The man in the middle can face-up to the three point line off the catch and score it inside. He dunks it, scores with reverse layups, hook shots and he moves well in space to defend. He scored 12 points with 5+ rebounds and two steals.    [player_tooltip player_id='2724507' first='Preston' last='Bauer'] Notre Dame Prep    A good sized scoring guard is a catch and shoot three point specialist type of shooter. He will come off the bench and he will rattle them in one by one. He can get on the glass too with his improved size and he scored 12 points.    [player_tooltip player_id='2314614' first='Powell' last='Perkins'] Notre Dame Prep    A strong framed power forward has improved his build in the last year. He gobbles up rebounds in his area with his broad shoulders and strength. He scores it with hook shots and he a nice touch on his free throws. He scored 3 points with 5+ rebounds.     [player_tooltip player_id='2297776' first='Michael' last='Atabala'] Notre Dame Prep   A strong framed combo guard can play on or off the ball. He will use his quickness and speed to defend on the ball and collect steals plus rebound. He will score with threes off the catch and score with euro steps and can take it coast to coast. He scored 7 points.     [player_tooltip player_id='2825307' first='Owen' last='Pope'] Notre Dame Prep   A combo forward who can play either forward position up front. He will score with offensive rebound put backs and takes very long strides to the basket. He can defend multiple positions and scored 6 points with a few rebounds.
