The high school season in New Mexico tipped off with intensity, and it didn't take long for several players across the state to step into the spotlight. From efficient scoring nights to all-around stat-stuffing performances, Week 1 proved that this year's hoopers are ready to hoop at a high level. These five players separated themselves early and set the tone for what could be huge seasons

Drew wasted no time proving he's one of the state's most dangerous young scorers. He poured in 10 points, including two confident threes and four free throws that came in key moments of the game. Bramlett didn't just score — he found ways to impact winning, adding four rebounds, two assists, and even a block. His ability to attack defenses, shoot it with range, and pick his spots showed he's evolving into a three-level scorer who can take over games as the season progresses. La Cueva's victory was fueled by Bramlett's ability to put pressure on defenders every time he touched the ball.

Sanchez was a force. Not only did he score 13 points on an efficient 4-of-5 from the field and make 5 free throws, but he completely controlled the glass from the guard spot, grabbing 10 rebounds. He also added 1 steal and 2 blocks, proving he's one of the most versatile two-way guards in the state. His activity level jumps off the floor, and when he's playing downhill and defending like this, La Cueva becomes a different team.

A physical presence on both ends, Butler quietly had one of the most complete stat lines of the week. He finished with 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting, went 4-for-4 at the line, and cleaned up the boards with 7 rebounds. Add in a block and constant defensive engagement, and it's clear Butler is evolving into a matchup problem. He's efficient, strong, and doesn't waste possessions — a coach's dream.

Dropping 19 points on 9-for-13 shooting. Smith's motor never shut off. He attacked the paint, finished tough shots, and wasn't afraid of the moment. He added 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks, proving he impacts every part of the game. For a sophomore, this level of production is rare. If he keeps this pace, he'll be one of the breakout names in New Mexico by midseason.

Brown didn't need a massive scoring night to stand out because his all-around game spoke for him. He posted 7 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals, and a block, doing a little bit of everything and making winning plays. Brown reads the floor well, sees plays before they happen, and is always hunting opportunities to set up teammates. That kind of feel at his age is special.
