The Grafton Spoilers enter the season as one of Region 2's most intriguing Class A teams under head coach Riley Lillemoen. The big question is simple: just how deep can they go? One thing is certain—Grafton will go as far as Lillemoen and Rice can take them. It's shaping up to be an exciting year of Spoiler hoops!   The Grafton Spoilers enter the season with a roster built around length, versatility, and firepower. This is a team that can spread the floor, shoot it confidently from deep, and create matchup problems with their size and athleticism. They may not overpower opponents with physicality, but their skill, spacing, and shooting ability give them a style that's tough to prepare for.   With three starters back and a promising sophomore class pushing for varsity roles, Grafton brings a mix of experience, quickness, and multi-positional defenders. They'll be smaller inside than in previous years but more dynamic on the wing, leaning into their ability to guard in space, anticipate, and turn stops into transition opportunities. The returning leaders set the tone, but the depth behind them may be what elevates this team. Brody is a 3 level scorer with range and is a strong finisher around the basket. His length makes him difficult to guard and allows him to play multiple positions. We expect him to be one of our leading scorers and he will also need to play a big part on the glass. Defensively, he will need to guard both forwards and post players.   [player_tooltip player_id='1632619' first='Reggie' last='Rice'] (6'6, Forward, 12th)   Returning All-Region. Reggie is also a 3 level scorer. He's athletic and uses that to his advantage whether he's pulling up from deep or getting to the paint. His quickness makes him very difficult to guard off the dribble and in transition. Reggie also does a nice job facilitating and finding the open man. Reggie will need to be one of our leading scorers and rebounders as well. "Last year had its ups and downs. We knew it wouldn't be easy with the class we graduated from the year before. I thought we did improve as the year progressed and we gave ourselves a chance to make the play in day of regionals, but came up just short."   PHD: Does your program/team have any non-negotiables?   "I think our teams have always been known for playing hard and competing no matter who we are playing. Our kids love to be challenged and aren't afraid to play the best of the best."   PHD: What will your defense "hang its hat on"?   "Without a natural post player this year, we will need to do a better job defending on the perimeter and we need to limit teams to one shot per possession. We have some kids that anticipate well and we will need them to cause some problems for other teams on the defensive end."   PHD: How does this year's team differ from last year's?   "We lost an All-State post player and we don't necessarily have anyone to step into that position. We will need to find a way to make up for that."   PHD: How did the offseason go for your team/program?   "Most of our kids spent a lot of time in the weight room and the gym doing workouts. Hopefully, we got stronger and became better shooters."   PHD: Who are some players you expect to take on expanded roles this season?   "We have 3 returning starters, two of them were All-Region last year ([player_tooltip player_id='2856939' first='Brody' last='Lillemoen'] & [player_tooltip player_id='1632619' first='Reggie' last='Rice']). Along with those two, we will need everyone else to step up, as we have some production to make up for with the loss of Kyler Droog to graduation. [player_tooltip player_id='2630718' first='Tyan' last='Storey'], our 3rd returning starter, will be expected to play a bigger role on both ends of the floor. We need him to use his strength to cause problems defensively and also to help on the glass. [player_tooltip player_id='2991153' first='Easton' last='Hansel'], [player_tooltip player_id='2834690' first='True' last='Moberg'], Chace Woinarowicz, [player_tooltip player_id='3100428' first='Jack' last='Green'], and [player_tooltip player_id='3100433' first='Aidan' last='McMillian'], among others, will be asked to fill roles and help replace what we lost from last year's team. They are all capable players and bring something to the table. We expect all of them to push for big minutes at the varsity level this season."   PHD: Who are a few of your top defensive players?   "[player_tooltip player_id='1632619' first='Reggie' last='Rice'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2856939' first='Brody' last='Lillemoen'] have the ability to guard multiple positions and can cause some problems with their length. They also both anticipate very well. [player_tooltip player_id='2630718' first='Tyan' last='Storey'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2834690' first='True' last='Moberg'] use their strength well and can guard both post and forward positions. [player_tooltip player_id='2991153' first='Easton' last='Hansel'] is a quick guard who can create issues for opposing ball handlers."   PHD: Who are a couple of up-and-comers to look out for?   "[player_tooltip player_id='2991153' first='Easton' last='Hansel'], [player_tooltip player_id='2834690' first='True' last='Moberg'], [player_tooltip player_id='3100428' first='Jack' last='Green'], and [player_tooltip player_id='3100433' first='Aidan' last='McMillian'] are all sophomores that we are expecting a lot from this season. They don't have a ton of varsity experience in basketball, but they all had good football seasons at the varsity level this fall. Hopefully, that experience will carry over."   PHD: What style of play can fans expect on both ends of the floor?   "I think people will see an up-tempo game. We like to get up and down the floor and with the quickness we have, we should be able to do that."   PHD: Who do you think will be your best rebounders? We expect them to lead the way in the rebounding category."   PHD: What are your team goals this year?   "As always, our goal is to be playing our best basketball at the end of the season. We feel like if we do that, we give ourselves a chance to compete for a birth to the State Tournament."   PHD: Who are some of the top teams & players in your Region?
