While the season has not started yet, the Timpview T-Birds are one of the teams that will come into the season as the favorite to win it all in 5A. They have a team loaded with talent and experience. After a heartbreaking exit in the playoffs last season to Olympus, the eventual 5A State Champion.

What has changed

While most teams might maintain the status quo as the season approaches, Timpview is undergoing significant transformations. Despite their successful 20-win season last year, the team is entering a new era under the leadership of Coach Brad Kitchens. Kitchens, a seasoned coach, comes to Timpview from the nationally recognized Snow College, bringing with him a wealth of experience and expertise. You can see a different gear that they are playing with this fall, and you can expect some of that to trickle over to the pre-season.

Timpview now has 2 BYU commits on the roster, and the rise of Will Openshaw is evident. Dean Ruckert is better, but so is [player_tooltip player_id='1278505' first='Mason' last='Ford'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1960159' first='Lincoln' last='Holcombe'].

Look for Timpview to play at a quicker pace this season and average about 75 PPG.

The BYU Commits

[player_tooltip player_id='1278448' first='Dean' last='Rueckert'] || 6'7 SF

Dean has all the tools you look for in a prospect that can play at the highest level at some point in his career. He has the perimeter length and movement that teams are looking for on the wing. His first step has improved and he is a player that is among some of the toughest to defend. Rueckert is legit.

Will Openshaw || 6'11 C

Will Openshaw's development can be attributed to the "iron sharpening iron" principle. Competing in the EYBL Circuit against top players and athletes nationally, his ability to perform at a high level was crucial to his growth. When you look at his skill set you quickly realize the ceiling he has over the next 4 years is huge.

Difference Making Guards

Timpview boasts a roster filled with players capable of making an impact at any moment. [player_tooltip player_id='1278505' first='Mason' last='Ford'], in particular, stands out as a dynamic lead guard. He possesses exceptional pace and an uncanny ability to control the game's tempo, even under immense pressure. Ford's court vision is remarkable, complemented by his physical attributes. Furthermore, he is renowned for his precision and accuracy in making sharp passes, making him one of the best in the state. His skill is particularly valuable when the team has high-flying players who can benefit from his pinpoint distribution.

[player_tooltip player_id='1960159' first='Lincoln' last='Holcombe'], a late bloomer, is poised to elevate his game to new heights. His athleticism and court awareness are currently at an all-time high, making him a valuable asset to the team. Holcombe's improved skills and strategic thinking make him a key player to watch this season. He is going to be a low-risk risk-high high-reward player at the next level for a small school.

Other players to watch:

[player_tooltip player_id='2218114' first='Cooper' last='Cleveland']

[player_tooltip player_id='1960162' first='Jackson' last='Palmer']

[player_tooltip player_id='2194688' first='Jackson' last='Ford']

[player_tooltip player_id='2400288' first='Taj' last='Taylor']

[player_tooltip player_id='2675080' first='Max' last='Cleveland']

Outlook

Timpview is poised for a competitive season, kicking things off with a challenging match-up against the 6A contender, Bingham High School. While Bingham boasts length throughout their roster, Timpview counters with significant length, particularly in the matchups featuring Rueckert and Openshaw. This promises to be a high-stakes opener. Timpview has the right pieces to win it all, and if [player_tooltip player_id='1278448' first='Dean' last='Rueckert'] can activate a gear where he is in high-energy attack mode, there might not be anyone in the state that can stop him.

While the season has not started yet, the Timpview T-Birds are one of the teams that will come into the season as the favorite to win it all in 5A. They have a team loaded with talent and experience. After a heartbreaking exit in the playoffs last season to Olympus, the eventual 5A State Champion.
