Preseason Player of the Year: 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2520041' first='Matson' last='Winings'] (South Winneshiek)

The UIC lost a lot of production to graduation, but one school that didn't lose much was South Winneshiek, who has three viable candidates for this honor. We'll give the nod to Winings, the team's leading returning scorer and rebounder, but the Warriors appear to be pretty loaded this winter and should be considered the team to beat.

First Team

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2520041' first='Matson' last='Winings'] (South Winneshiek): 17.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.4 blocks, 55.0 FG%

One of three double-figure scorers returning for the Warriors, Winings is a skilled combo forward who can score inside and out, provide some versatility on the defensive end, and control the glass.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1874773' first='Carson' last='Streeter'] (South Winneshiek): 16.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 2.2 steals

Streeter may be the Warriors' top shooting threat, shooting 34.2% from behind the arc last season. He can play on or off the ball, giving them a reliable secondary playmaker alongside Todd, and he's active on the glass on both ends of the floor.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2520046' first='Braiden' last='Todd'] (South Winneshiek): 13.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.1 assists, 2.7 steals

The playmaker in the backcourt, Todd led the Warriors in helpers last season and posted a strong 2.27 assist-to-turnover ratio. He's at his best when he's attacking off the dribble, getting into the teeth of the defense and getting to his floater or finding open teammates.

2026 Logan Busta (Turkey Valley): 16.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.8 steals

Another stat-sheet stuffer in a league filled with versatile athletes, Busta led the Trojans in scoring, assists, and steals. He's a solid on-ball defender with quick hands and feet, and a versatile three-level scorer.

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2617484' first='Carter' last='Lightfoot'] (MFL MarMac): 12.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 6.4 assists, 3.6 steals

Lightfoot was the straw that stirred the drink for the Bulldogs last season, posting an impressive 2.64 assist-to-turnover ratio and leading the team in steals. His speed and IQ are major assets on both ends of the floor, and he'll be asked to shoulder an even heavier scoring load as a senior.
