Freshmen to keep an eye on.

Every year, a new crop of guys looking to make an impact and build a name for themselves on the high school scene emerges. Here are some guys who you may not already know that you should get on your radar. They have the potential to make an impact on the JV squads as role players or developing on the varsity squads for their high schools this season.    Pryor has a long, lanky build and moves with a certain wiggle, even without relying heavily on dribble moves. He plays at his own pace and rhythm, consistently finding ways to penetrate the paint for easy looks at the rim. While he is still developing his jump shot, he has a nice push shot from inside 15 feet. As a taller guard, he can see over defenders and make good passes to his open teammates. In a program that has lost a lot of talent, he should find himself in a situation with plenty of reps, where he can grow quickly.     Pettit is a promising young player with a lot of potential. As he enters his freshman season, he has good size, strength, and a solid high school-ready physique. Pettit is somewhat of a "tweener," meaning he could be labeled as a big player due to his program's lack of size, but that would limit his development. He has decent ball-handling ability and a variety of turnaround shots, along with good athleticism and an aggressive mindset geared toward scoring. With proper coaching, he could excel as a small forward if he learns to cut effectively and is allowed to shoot. To truly unlock his full basketball potential, he will need to become a more willing passer.      Walker is a small guy in stature but he has a unique playing style and flair to his game that is eye-catching. His floater teardrops and push shots provide a great foundational mid range game that allows him to be creative and effective when he gets dribble penetration. He is a serviceable perimeter shooter. Hopefully he continues to grow and develop especially in his pick in roll reads and expanding his range so he can get shots from behind the pick.        Brown is a player who gradually wins you over when you take the time to watch him. At first glance, he may seem like just an average player. However, he allows the game to come to him, showcasing a basketball IQ that exceeds that of his peers. Brown can impact nearly every statistic on the court. He is versatile, able to play both on and off the ball. If you need scoring, he can score from all three levels. If facilitating is required, he understands angles well and can create passing lanes. He is also a solid defender, plays with hustle, and rebounds effectively for his position. If you need a player who can excel in any system, he is the right choice.      Weaver is just a hooper. He understands how to play the game. He is capable of playing on or off the ball. He is a solid shooter, especially in catch and shoot situations. He uses his eye well to open up passing angles. He has all the makings of a great system player. No Flash just results. Weaver is at a school that has a lot of talent. He will get the benefit of practicing against that everyday and continue to get better until it's his turn.
