CBG held their Fall Finale Jamboree over the weekend and once again, it was a loaded field of teams with prospects for all levels of colleges to track. I was there for the slate of games on Saturday and for this article, will be highlighting the intriguing guards from the 2027 class who caught my eye.

This was my first viewing of Canton since he made the move to Mt. Zion and it seems his strengths will be highlighted quite nicely. The 6-foot-2 guard who's nearing 6-foot-3 is a downhill force combined with quickness and a physical frame that makes him a handful to defend on drives to the rim. Canton is at his best playing in an uptempo setting where his end-to-end speed becomes clear, but it's also prevalent in the half court as he can catch and quickly take advantage of the rotating defense by exposing driving lanes. His jumper from three is still a work in progress, but with time and space, Canton can knock them down with decent consistency. Considering he demands respect with his driving ability from his defender, becoming a knockdown shooter from deep will further unlock his offensive repertoire. He's a stout defender and willing rebounder who can quickly grab-and-go.

In any event that I evaluate Asare, I feel obligated to write about him due to the impact and importance he plays for this talented Highland group. At this point it's beating a dead horse, but the 5-foot-11 southpaw bring a calming presence as the floor general who has a good feel of how to control the tempo of a game to benefit his team. His change-of-speed attack while remaining poised and maintaining vision of the entire court improves with each viewing. He sticks it from mid-range off the bounce, cannot be forgotten about on catches from beyond the arc, and is no stranger to absorbing contact on drives.

McDonald is one of the premier scoring guards on the East coast and Saturday was no different as the 6-foot-1 combo guard went for a loud 33 points in a win over West Nottingham. He's the type of microwave scorer who can quickly change the momentum of a game as he did by hitting three-straight triples and giving his team a cushion and sail smoothly to victory. McDonald is dynamic, shifty, and extremely confident in his ability. The danger with McDonald if you're an opposing coach is that he doesn't let a miss mess with his confidence or approach.

Shungu caught my attention with is competitive motor that never seemed to run cold. It started on the defensive end with his willingness not only to pressure the opposing ball handler the full length of the floor, but do so with impeccable lateral speed and discipline with his hands. This type of effort will go unseen for those looking at the box scores, but the impact is invaluable in establishing advantages during the course of a game. Offensively, he's still a work in progress, but is a threat as a slasher and high-flyer around the rim. He doesn't just graze the rim either, Shunga explodes in unique fashion for his size and gets off the ground quickly to put opposing shot-blockers in difficult positions that result in trips to the charity stripe.
