This past weekend, I attended the Zero Gravity Live Finale at Dana Barros Basketball Club in Stoughton, MA. I watched mostly games from the varsity division, though I saw some other games as well.

As always, it's impossible to see every team and player. Just because you aren't written up doesn't mean you didn't have a great weekend — it's just hard to get a chance to watch everybody.

I'll be having coverage throughout the week recapping the event.

Santos was lightning in a bottle for PTT and completely dominated a Saturday morning game with his ability to get to the rim and finish. The 6-foot-4 guard used his strength and athleticism to glide past his initial defender with ease and then was able to elevate at the hoop and take contact consistently. He also has a nice mid range jumper, where he showcases great balance and pop. He also plays hard defensively and can guard multiple positions as a result of his combination of size and strength. I'll be very curious what his role looks like at the Kent School this season — I would imagine he gets lots of minutes and is one of their better scorers.

I really enjoyed watching Norton play and think he can be a high D3 or even potentially a scholarship player if he continues to develop. The rising junior is 6-foot-6 and makes good decisions for himself and his teammates within the flow of the offense. Despite his size, he's able to drive closeouts and make reads in the paint, whether it be stopping for a mid range shot or spraying out to teammates on the perimeter. He looks like he should continue to put on weight and get stronger, but the skillset and IQ are there already and he has lots of time to grow alongside a really good Cheshire Academy team.

Rodriguez had a right shoulder injury and therefore couldn't take an outside shot or shoot with his right hand from anywhere on the court, but he still somehow dominated his Saturday afternoon game. The 6-foot-1 combo guard has a shiftiness to his handle and changes speeds/directions quite effectively; he uses head fakes and shoulder movements to blow by defenders with ease and has great elevation at the rim once he gets there. He also has excellent touch with his left hand (and incredibly long arms) around the hoop — very impressive. Looks like a high D3 or perhaps even a D2 player to me.

Yousef's feel for the game and general understanding of how to play offense was very fun to watch this weekend. The 6-foot-3 point guard is incredibly skinny and young-looking for a rising junior, but his ability to run the point and be a floor general is well beyond his years. He does an awesome job using change of pace dribbles to get to his spots in the paint and in the lane, and he can shoot the ball from three if you go under screens. He also has a knack for finishing with both hands once he gets into the lane. I could imagine him continuing to grow into a high level D3 player when the time comes.

Tshizanga is quite an intriguing long-term prospect. The 6-foot-7 forward has incredible length, and despite playing up in the varsity division as a rising junior, he was one of the stronger players I saw. He used his size and frame to move opposing bigs inside the paint, and he was incredibly effective as a rim runner and rebounder. Most intriguing was his ability to step out and hit a couple shots (and free throws), combined with his phenomenal communication and defensive instincts. I wouldn't be surprised to see scholarship schools interested in Tshizanga when the time comes, but he definitely needs to improve his on ball skills if he wants to make that happen.
