With effective shooting Team WhyNot started ahead, 9-3. Beal's superstar J.J. Andrews could not find the touch. It took a pump-faked three-pointer to get Beal's squad some comfort. [player_tooltip player_id='1560719' first='Trey' last='Pearson'] coaxed his defender up into the air and made two of the three free throws midway through the first quarter.
After 1Q, TeamWhyNot led the game, 13-10. Beal's main shortcoming was free throw misses.

With tremendous team defense [program_tooltip program_id='2075324' first='Brad' last='Beal Elite'] clawed to a narrow lead in the second quarter and Pearson's and-1 with 2 minutes left in the half gave BBE a 30-27 lead.

Beal Elite hit the half with a small lead on the back of a 32-20 scoring push.

[player_tooltip player_id='2352805' first='Quentin' last='Coleman'] finished multiple and-1's serving as [player_tooltip player_id='1560719' first='Trey' last='Pearson']'s backcourt mate.

With 4:15 to play [player_tooltip player_id='1560719' first='Trey' last='Pearson'] sizzled past his defender, lofted a lob to the front of the rim and [player_tooltip player_id='1557399' first='Sheek' last='Pearson'] stuffed it through, opening up the game to 64-59!

With about 90 seconds left [player_tooltip player_id='1560719' first='Trey' last='Pearson'] launched a corner three-pointer. It missed and Team WhyNot countered with a driving left-handed layup to capture a 67-65 lead.

J.J. Andrews drew a foul with mere seconds left. It was a horse collar grab around his back that might have been whistled for a flagrant at any other juncture. The officials elected to keep it a common two-shot foul and Andrews made both.
