June 17-18 I watched the third ever Section-7 Qualifier. There were 96 teams in 6 pools of 16 teams each.

The 6 winners advanced to the official Section-7 June 20-22 versus some of the top teams on the West Coast.

I watched a bunch of full and half of some of the games. I obviously did not watch every team and when I watched, I am basing it on that performance and on the teams success combined.

Congrats to Arcadia, Centennial, Chaparral, Cienega, Dysart & Salpointe Catholic for earning spots into the weekends Section-7 Tournament.

6th Team Standouts

[player_tooltip player_id='2534830' first='Takobi' last='Benton'] Corona Del Sol (Pictured)

The senior leader of the team is a combo guard who has steadily improved in the last couple of years. He is a catch and shoot three point type who made some clutch shots to advance in the Final-4. Corona has struggled recently but he looks to breakout this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2759173' first='Jordan' last='Cruz'] Dysart

The incoming freshman is already a big part of the Demons success. The lefty is very quick and confident. He will score it with threes off the catch or pull and attacks off the dribble. He will facilitate and play defense with his quickness and speed. A great addition to the team.

[player_tooltip player_id='2039508' first='Preston' last='Dees'] Cooldige

An undersized post scores thru the contact. He is extremely strong and powerful to score it in heavy traffic. He literally bounces off of his post defenders and goes to work with soft hands under the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='2432466' first='RJ' last='Detroy'] Arcadia

A wing forward who is hyper efficient and effective around the basket. He has a fluid handle to get to his spots and will score with multiple counter moves with good patience. He is a smart passer and very competitive on defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2533645' first='Wyatt' last='Fulton'] Rancho Solano Prep

The sophomore young guard can play on or off the ball. He is improving quickly and can score with threes off the catch and hesitates well to get to the basket. He is tough on defense and rebounds the ball better then most guards his size. He is able to defend multiple positions, score and make plays.

[player_tooltip player_id='2552745' first='Jensen' last='Carter Grayson'] Coolidge

An undersized guard is very quick from end to end and scores it easily. He is very fast on the break with the ball in his hands and seems to jet past most opponents with ease to the rim. He will score with mid-range pull-ups off the dribble and catch threes.

[player_tooltip player_id='1951728' first='Zachary' last='Jiggens'] ALA Ironwood

An old school pure point guard just simply gets the game. The ball gets out of his hands so quickly and he sees plays developing quicker then most at his position. He is strong on defense as he can be stout in the post and then defend other lead guards.

[player_tooltip player_id='1768204' first='Luke' last='Larrabee'] Rancho Solano Prep

One of the easier shooters in the senior class. The ball gets off his hands arguably quicker then anyone and comes with deep range from the three. He probably hit one of his from about 30-feet that even his teammates were surprised he took the shot. He changes speeds well and can get a step to the basket or will pull-up from mid.

[player_tooltip player_id='2786909' first='Brody' last='Ramirez'] Florence

An undersized scoring lead guard is skilled from both perimeter levels but can also make plays with advanced court vision. He made some up the court ropes and drive and kicks. He plays the lead role and off the ball but he is just a gamer and this will be his team moving forward.
