With the spring and summer high school and club basketball seasons firmly in the rearview, we dug deep into our evaluations of the 2027 class in Southern California and put a fresh update on our rankings. There was a lot of movement among the top 50 prospects and six brand new additions to the mix. Below we break down those new names in the top 50.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194707' first='Jordyn' last='Houston'] | La Mirada | No. 51

Houston is a skilled and physical forward whose combination of perimeter and interior skill make him a versatile offensive player. The 6-foot-6 rising junior is a floor stretching threat off the catch, can use his linear athleticism and ball skills to attack the rim in straight-line drive situations and has the strength to absorb and finish through contact in the painted area.

[player_tooltip player_id='2908879' first='Bryce' last='Fletcher'] | Oakwood | No. 55

Fletcher debuts in our rankings at No. 55 with a ton of room to boost his stock over the next two seasons. The 6-foot-4 combo guard is a talented perimeter scorer and creator with a long, wiry and a long-term projectable frame. Fletcher is best as a perimeter scorer who can create and initiate offense as a primary ball handler but can also slide off the ball and impact the game as a catch and shoot threat.

[player_tooltip player_id='2866070' first='Sean' last='Palmer'] | San Gabriel Academy | No. 66 | Pictured

Palmer is a heady point guard whose combination of speed, strength and determination to get paint touches makes him a player who thrives in downhill attacking situations. Palmer has a "ball on a string" type of handle and a quick first step that allows him to get by defenders and into the lane where he can collapse the defense and create for others or use his savvy and strength to finish around the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='2916706' first='Jayden' last='Shazier-Harbin'] | St. Bernard | No. 70

Shazier-Harbin has a lot of long-term upside with his combination of size, mobility and athleticism. The 6-foot-8 center is an active rim-runner in transition with a reliable set of hands that allow him to finish around the rim. Shazier-Harbin is most impactful as a defender where he uses his pogo-stick like vertical athleticism and ability to stay vertical on contest to alter and deter shots around the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='2916710' first='Geovanni' last='Gilpen'] | North Torrance | No. 78

There's one thing that always stands out in our viewings of Gilpen and it's the energy and effort he brings to both ends of the floor. The 6-foot-6 wing/forward is always lurking around the offensive glass looking for tip-ins or second-chance opportunities. The rising junior uses his combination of length, quick twitch athleticism and touch around the basket to score on high percentage finishes.

[player_tooltip player_id='2916714' first='Mattai' last='Carter'] | Loyola | No. 80

Carter is a prospect who has the ability to rise in the rankings over the next two seasons due to his combination of elite athleticism, complete with speed, verticality, body control and quick twitch on both ends. Carter thrives in transition offensive settings where he fills lanes and slashes his way to the rim for acrobatic and emphatic finishes at the rim.
