NEXT Summer Slam: All Tourney 2nd Team 11U

Kids came from far and wide to show their talents on the basketball court. These young players showed how they were worthy of being All Tournament 2nd team performers.    A pass first point guard who looks to make everyone better. Xavier is a great passer! Many of his assists led to positive outcomes for the Gowdy Basketball squad. He always found ways to make the right play at the right time. Xavier showed the ability to run the offense with precision. He is a vocal leader who made sure his teammates were in the appropriate areas of the basketball court. Xavier has the skills to be a threat from mid or long range. During the game he knocked down two shots from beyond the arc. He was great at creating the space he needed to get his shot off. On defense, Xavier pressured opponents into turning the basketball over. He played great on-ball defense using quick hands and excellent footwork. Xavier has a bright future as a lead guard. Keep it up Xavier!!     King is an aggressive combo guard who is skilled enough to play as the team's scorer or facilitator. He handles the ball with skill. King made plays by winning his one-on-one match-ups. He made this happen by scoring in the paint or dishing out assists to his teammates. King showed the ability to knock down mid-range shots on the perimeter. He knocked down multiple threes, using hesitation dribbles to free himself. He was great at finding teammates cutting to the basket. The majority of his assists were on the money. King is a talented guard who has a chance to be great in the near future. Keep working King!!     Carter is an athletic player who excelled at playing defense, blocking shots and scoring inside the paint. In the match-up against Gowdy Basketball 11U, He dominated the boards on both ends of the court. Carter showed the drive to be a difference maker all over the court. He rebounded most of his teammates' misses and scored around the basket. Carter showed a knack for making tough shots in the paint. Many of them led to three point play opportunities from the free-throw line. Carter was a major presence in the paint. He blocked multiple shots and redirected most attempts that came his way. He is already a great defender, just imagine how good he will become if he improves offensively. Keep working Carter!!     Blake is a great mid-range shooter! He consistently knocked down perimeter shots in the game against Gowdy Basketball 11U. He played with maximum effort on both ends of the court. Whether it's chasing down loose balls, taking charges, grabbing rebounds or being a solid defender, Blake was able to make positive plays. He was very knowledgeable about using screens and finding ways to get open. He handled the ball and showed his ability to make great passes. Defensively, he applied great pressure on opposing guards. Blake is the ultimate team player! Keep it up Blake!!     Karter was definitely D1 MN 2033 Black's best shooter. He found ways to free himself on offense. Karter showed his effectiveness by using player screens or moving in the offensive sets. There was a sequence during the game, when Karter caught fire. He knocked down two consecutive threes and energized his teammates. In some instances, he attacked opposing players and scored lay-ups in the paint. Defensively, he gave maximum effort. Karter forced numerous turnovers by playing the pass lanes. After watching him play, I view him as more of a shooter than a slasher. Karter has a weapon that all coaches want to have on their team, great shooting! Keep it up Karter!!     Obi was a rebounding machine! He showed a physical paint presence on both ends of the court. On multiple occasions, Obi grabbed offensive rebounds and scored around the basket. The defensive side of the floor is where he battled [program_tooltip program_id='2512324' first='Wisconsin' last='Legends'] players for every board he got his hands on. Ultimately, finishing the game with six. Offensively, he attacked the basket and showed the ability to score from mid-range. Defensively, he caused opposing players to turn the ball over with his physical style of play. Obi used his athleticism to block multiple shots in the paint. Keep working Obi!!     A shifty ball handler who used a variety of moves to get around defenders. Pierce is a team player who made all the necessary plays needed to help his team win. Whether it's attacking the basket, fighting for rebounds, knocking down timely jump-shots or defending, Pierce was always making plays. He is an efficient passer. Whenever he saw teammates cutting to the rim, the pass was always on time. Many of his baskets were scored when the D1 MN 2032 Gold found themselves in fast-break opportunities. Pierce scored three lay-ups in transition. On defense, he excelled at applying on-ball pressure, timing the pass lanes and generating steals. Keep it up Pierce!!     Cam is a tough minded guard who has shooting skills. Cam played with no fear, despite his small stature on the court. He can handle the ball, get around defenders, knocks down threes and scores in the paint. Cam showed an impressive package of skills within the D1 MN 2032 Gold. Whenever he drove into the painted area, his shot of choice was the floater. He scored over taller defenders attempting to block his shot. In two halves of play, he nailed three shots from beyond the arc. On defense, Cam excelled at using quick hands and timing to generate turnovers. His on-ball pressure caused the opposing guards into mistakes. Keep it up Cam!!     The first strength I noticed in this young man's game was his ability to shoot. It didn't matter who defended him. Caiden was in a zone where he could not miss. He knocked down four threes in two halves of play. In some instances, he showed the ability to get to the basket. On offense, he hit the opposing defenders with step-back jumpers or scores in the paint. The move allowed him to create enough space to get his shot off. On defense, he fought through screens and stayed attached to his opponent. Caiden applied pressure on the ball. Ultimately making ball handling difficult for the opposition. Great young player with a bright future ahead of him.     Camden excelled at making all the hustle plays for the D1 MN 2032 Gold. He attacked the boards on both ends of the court. Camden has the mentality of taking charges and hitting the floor for loose balls. Whatever the team needed, Camden gave one hundred percent. He showed a knack for scoring tough baskets through contact. Some led to three-point play opportunities from the free-throw line. Camden confidently stepped to the line and knocked them down. In some instances, he showed the ability to make shots on the perimeter. On defense, Camden was tenacious! He bodied his opponent and generated multiple steals while applying pressure. Keep it up Camden!!
