College Commitment – Jarod Stanley (2025 Sprague)
Despite putting together an incredible senior season, both individually and team-wise with Sprague, Jarod Stanley was still looking for the right fit at the college level. So the athletic 6-foot-4 wing played out the spring in club ball and the next thing you now, schools came calling. When it came down to it, Western Oregon was the offer he couldn't turn down and Stanley will be suiting up with the Wolves next season as the first high school recruit in the Ryan Orton area.
"I was just under-recruited in high school- nobody really gave me the opportunity," Stanley said. "It just felt like home, taking a visit there, and (Orton) wants to rebuild something great. It's a fresh start with a new coach, new team, and new roster, and it's going to be great."
As a senior, Stanley averaged 18.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.9 steals in helping lead Sprague to their first-ever 6A state tournament appearance. He earned co-Central Valley Conference Player of the Year honors and scored over 1000 points in his career. From this storied high school career, the wing is hoping for even bigger things starting his career at Western Oregon.
"I just want to play at the highest level, honestly," Stanley said. "Whether it's professionally, at the next level, just somewhere competitive where I can play."
Stanley got a taste of playing against the state's best when he recently suited up for the CVC all-star squad at the Best of the Best Conference Tournament this past weekend. While he unfortunately couldn't participate on the event's second day due to a shoulder injury, he contributed mightily to his team that ended up fifth by winning the consolation bracket.
"It's just a great all-star game to be a part of with all my teammates and people from my conference," Stanley said. "It just gets everyone together, all the seniors, right before we go to college. It's just an amazing experience."
Our congratulations go out to Stanley and his family on his commitment.
