PICTURED: Kylon Terry

Mid-May, we updated the 2028 player rankings. In this feature the focus is on Class of 2028's best shooting guards.

Top-tier
Frankly, shooting guard is not the strongest position group in 2028.

Expect a breakout season from [player_tooltip player_id='2364301' first='JP' last='Strong III'] though. JP followed his father to Davidson Academy after a strong freshman campaign with Station Camp in 2024-2025. Strong

Kylon Terry earned significant playing time at the 3A State Tournament with Fayette Ware's Wildcats. He lacks above average shooting, but his athleticism, size for the position, and rebounding are way ahead of the pack. Mostly around the basket, Kylon amassed 339 points throughout 2024-2025! Shooting touch is the area he needs to focus on long-term (23% 3pt, 56% FT).

Nobody in the Class of 2028 was more productive than [player_tooltip player_id='2859657' first='Zuri' last='McClure']. Through 27 freshman games Zuri managed 14.9 points per game, 4.9 rebounds per, and 1.6 steals per. Zuri is already 6-foot-2, or taller and weighs in around 185 pounds. He is sturdy.

Unranked...for Now

Blackman features a veteran team, as they always do, but one sophomore dressed varsity this season and appears ready to positively impact the program immediately.

Braylon Bailey stands about 6-foot-2 and operates primarily as an off-guard within the program. Most games Braden Flowers will be the point guard.

Sizable SGs

[player_tooltip player_id='2610387' first='Bryson' last='Morrissette'] (6-foot-4) starred way back in September at the Prep Hoops Expo. Pigeon Forge rarely makes loud noises statewide, but between Morrissette and teammate [player_tooltip player_id='2610395' first='Cristopher' last='Fudger'] the program is on the rise.

Carter Cox attended the same event. Carter checks in around 6-foot-5 with nice agility. As a freshman, Carter earned All-District and All-Region honors. Unlike most of the players in this list, Carter might just compete as a small forward. The difference between SF and SG has truthfully never been smaller though. Most basketball players now are either guards or center. Carter is a big, strong dude though and will be able to guard "2" or "3".
