The guards below stood out this past weekend as they're gearing up for their incoming high school seasons.    Davion Berry: Natural Floor General   Davion Berry, a 6'0” point guard, is attending San Leandro High next fall. Berry already plays with patience and poise. He's got a smooth pull-up jumper and can get to it driving either way, keeping defenders honest.    What stands out most is how he lets the game come to him. Whether he's penetrating to dish or finishing with that soft left hand at the rim, Berry never forces the action. He makes smart reads and doesn't predetermine his move—he reacts in rhythm and makes the right play.   A true point guard who can score or create, keep an eye on Davion Berry.     Dominic Byra: Young Shooter with a Quick Release    Dominic Byra, a 5'10” combo guard headed to Campolindo High, already shows the shooting mechanics of a seasoned shooter. He knocked down multiple threes with confidence, showing smooth form, deep range, and solid lift on his shot.   Byra has a natural feel for scoring the ball, and with his tight handle, he doesn't need much space to get his shot off. With his shooting touch and ability to play on or off the ball, he's poised to make an impact early on in his high school career.     James Kennedy: Wing with a Knack for Scoring   James Kennedy, a 6'0” wing from Washington High (Fremont, CA), continues to prove he's can deliver on the offensive end. He led his team with 22 points in a strong showing against CDA Elite, setting the tone with energy, hustle and execution on both ends.   Kennedy is a natural slasher who thrives in transition. He knows how to fill the lanes, time his cuts, and finish at the rim. In the half court, he plays with balanced game. He can play off the ball or with it. He's able to take defenders off the dribble or rise up off of a jab step with his confident shooting stroke.     Will Diggs: Bishop O'Dowd's 5'8” Floor General That Plays Bigger Than His Size   Will Diggs, the 2029 point guard from Bishop O'Dowd, is more than just a floor general—he's the heartbeat of his team.    Late in the second half, Diggs showed exactly why he's such a playmaker. He drove hard to the left, took contact, and was still able to finish through defenders with a strong left-hand lay-up. That kind of toughness and finesse as rare at this age.    But it's not just his attacking that stands out—Diggs is a reliable shooter too. He consistently stepped out and knocks down perimeter shots, forcing defenses to account for him. Small in stature but massive in impact, Will Diggs showed leadership, basketball iQ and grit      Justin Harris: Versatile Guard with a High Basketball IQ   Justin Harris, a 6'0” combo guard from Canyon Middle School in Castro Valley, already has a mature game well beyond his years. Under control and steady from start to finish, Harris does a little bit of everything and does it all with purpose.   He's comfortable handling the ball in traffic, never appeared to be rattled when pressured, and always seems to make the right read. One standout play came when he drove into the lane, absorbed contact in mid-air, switched hands, and finished an acrobatic layup—showing both toughness and finesse. But what really separates Harris is his unselfishness. In an era where highlights often take priority, he made the kind of play that doesn't always show up in the box score—passing up a good shot to give a teammate an even better one. That type of decision-making is rare, especially for a young player.   Justin Harris is the kind of guard every coach wants: skilled, composed, and willing to do whatever it takes to win. Every high school in the area will give him their best pitch.
