2025 Rice University Team Camp Standouts Part One

The 2025 Rice University Team Camp displayed some of the best High School programs in city as the teams competed against each other to get a feel for one another. I was able to find multiple prospects that caught my eye during the camp.    [player_tooltip player_id='2138028' first='Tyson' last='Forrest'], a versatile combo guard, possessing exceptional ball control and the ability to set the pace of the game. On offense, he demonstrates remarkable play-making skills, accurately passing to cutting teammates and swiftly creating separation from defenders on all three levels. His proficiency in utilizing screens effectively on the ball opens up scoring opportunities. When driving to the basket, Forrest's exceptional body control allows him to make layups even against taller defenders. Defensively, his heightened awareness on the court results in numerous deflections. Throughout the Rice Team Camp, his on-ball defense showcased his impressive abilities. [player_tooltip player_id='2138028' first='Tyson' last='Forrest']'s continued ascent in the Texas rankings solidifies his claim as one of the state's best guards.     [player_tooltip player_id='1685490' first='Patrice' last='Mpouli'] definitely can make an impact with his defensive skills, being able to get on a run of his own by stopping the offense from scoring. Defensively, he was in the mix for a lot of hustle plays, using his physical frame to get steals and deflections. Offensively, Patrice showed he can athletically finish well in transition situations at times. Patrice spots up on the perimeter, keeping himself ready to shoot if a kickout pass comes his way. At times, Patrice will put the ball on the floor to create driving lanes for himself. Patrice will be a key addition to the Summer Creek basketball program!      [player_tooltip player_id='2556262' first='Xavier' last='Gibbons'] is a player that can get into an offensive rhythm early, putting pressure on opposing defenders to play him honestly. Offensively, he pulls up in the mid-range well, gets to the basket often by blowing past defenders and making spot-up three-pointers. Throughout the Rice Team Camp, he came away with solid performances. Defensively, Xavier competes very hard, keeping up with opposing guards by sliding his feet and using his frame to pick pockets.     [player_tooltip player_id='2882584' first='Robert' last='Scarborough'], the team's anchor in the paint, delivered a standout performance against College Park High School. His defensive prowess is evident as he secures rebounds, challenges shots at the rim, and executes effective rotations from weak side coverage. On the offensive front, Robert's ability to make himself an easy target for paint finishes in transition and half-court sets adds to his offensive impact. This upcoming season, Robert will undoubtedly be a crucial player for the Summer Creek basketball team.     Marwane Fadika's usage rate during the Rice Team Camp was exceptionally high, indicating his potential to be a significant player in Katy Jordan's offense during the school season. What truly impressed me about his offensive game was his unwavering determination to continue pushing the ball downhill despite the contact he received. As he went downhill, he frequently found himself at the free throw line. Additionally, Marwane is a prospect who often leads his teammates to open shots by finding them in the right spots. Defensively, he makes a notable impact through his toughness and active hands. As time progresses, Marwane, the 2027 guard, deserves more recognition for his contributions.
