Oakwood Academy's identity starts with defense. This summer, Coach Swain wants his squad doubling down on their core principles. He wants his team to embrace defense first and putting relentless pressure on opponents 94-feet, learning to communicate as a unit, and bringing toughness on every possession. Offensively he wants his team to learn to control tempo by dictating the pace of play and not allowing opponents to speed them up or slow them down. He also wants efficient offense by prioritizing smart shot selection and making every possession count. Coach Swain wants his team to continue building chemistry and accountability. He wants his guys to gel, to grow, and to play unselfish basketball, which he believes is what leads to deep postseason runs.
