Space City Collision: Saturday Afternoon Standout Prospects

Saturday was the main day for a lot of prospects at Space City Collision to make their names known during the afternoon prime time. Many top prospects gathered under the roof of MI3 Center in Houston to prove themselves and some elite performances definitely took place. Here were some guys who really caught my eye and stood above the rest in doing the important things for their respective team!    [player_tooltip player_id='2839297' first='Avanta' last='Lyons'] was the main scorer for his CenLA 17u team against the Texas Bad Boys 17u. Lyons has elite playmaking ability and court vision. His game demonstrated fluid scoring and creating for teammates at all levels, as well as his IQ in critical game situations. Avanta has that combo guard feel that every coach at the next level is really looking for and will be a steal for whatever collegiate program he decides to attend. His potential is really sky high and I will be looking for him to continue this momentum as the grassroots season goes on.     Trenton Sweazie was the big man under the basket for East Houston Hoops in their close loss to the L2H Tigers. Sweazie rebounded at a high clip and was aggressive in boxing out opponents to secure loose balls for him or his teammates. Trenton was always in the right spot on offense to score an easy two pointer at the rim or step out for a perimeter jumper and drain a three pointer to keep the defense honest. He also played great fundamental defense, not biting on pump fakes and gathering several blocks when the other team attempted to shoot a layup over him.     Tramell was a great playmaker for his Arnold Elite National 2026 squad in their Saturday win over [program_tooltip program_id='2827613' first='LBD' last='Basketball']. Scott knew when to attack the rim over tough defense and when to dish to open teammates for easy buckets. Scott is a great hustle player and uses his size well against opposition to get key buckets for Arnold Elite. Tramell was probably my most impressive point guard of the weekend, and I was keyed in on how easy it was for him to control the pace of the game.     Laderion was one of the highest potential 15u athletes I was able to watch this weekend. Simmons uses tremendous versatility and deceptive speed to blow past his matchup to the basket, and he can also shoot quite well off the dribble. His defense is fundamentally sound as he knows how to play passing lanes and make things happen on the fastbreak. Playing for 1 Nation certainly has helped him increase his IQ when on the floor and he projects to continue to be a major difference maker this summer.     Aitmerim was one of the primary starting ballhandlers for L2H Tigers this weekend and was key in helping them beat a lot of defensive press they received in their Saturday games. He has good passing ability and wherewithal to know where his team is on the court and is smart with the ball in his hands. He attacks the rim with great speed and decision making, despite being one of the smallest players on the court. Aitmerim got himself to the line on multiple occasions and cashed in at the charity stripe, keeping his team in the contest with clutch nature in his genes.
