The second day of the Havoc in the Heartland produced plenty of high level play from players hailing throughout the Midwest. Following is a list of superlative skill sets and players who filled those categories.

Best Scorer: Izehiah Howell The 6-1 Lima Senior (OH) lefty earns the scoring moniker for the variety of ways he scored. Put up 23 points in a win against Indy area [program_tooltip program_id='2559412' first='Marlin' last='Academy']. Mostly did it off off of penetration. However was also good in the mid range at the rim. With strong muscular frame. Also absorbed contact on drives and got to the line often.

Best Penetrator: [player_tooltip player_id='2607545' first='Kaysen' last='Morehead'] (pictured) The 6-0 Lafayette Jefferson (IN) lead guard could also get the “iron man” award. As he played with multiple Indy Ice iterations throughout the afternoon. However, who ever he was playing with, he was getting to the bucket. With the amount of games he played, it makes sense that his best game came early. Put up 14 points in an exciting come from behind victory over the Lafayette Panthers. Kept shoulders squared to the basket on penetration and got into the shooting motion quickly.

Best Shooter: [player_tooltip player_id='2832403' first='Sam' last='Gundrum'] I'm not going to give height for the Anderson (OH) sniper. I feel pretty comfortable saying it's sub 5-10. What he lacked in size he made up for with moxie and shooting acumen. Wasn't just feasting on an overmatched opponent either. Went 4-for-4 to start a game against a very good Cave Gym Elite squad out of Kentucky. Being a well coached squad, Cave Gym went right at him in the post. While he gave up some points, he was generally competitive defensively against bigger opponents. As you would expect, had a trigger quick release. Also moved well off the ball and was in constant motion. The size will eventually come, but the shooting is already there in spades.

Best Floor General: [player_tooltip player_id='2821483' first='Malakyi' last='Hall'] The 6-1 Troy (OH) point guard gets the nod for his ability to play both ways. Was equally comfortable going to both the left and right. Opening up a lot of room for his Midwest Flyers squad. Also didn't fall in love with scoring after getting off to a quick start. As the defense adjusted, he was a good kick out passer to open shooters. Finished with 24 points in a loss to a good Indiana Impact squad.

Most Long Term Potential: [player_tooltip player_id='2860503' first='Brayden' last='Hashberger'] It feels odd going with a player who comes off the bench for this spot. However that is just a product of the depth and talent of the Indiana Impact squad. The Elkhart (IN) product has what you can't teach, eye opening size. Already standing 6-5 with a wide and strong frame. Not an overwhelming athlete, but as 2028 that can change quickly. Not the quickest player from end to end, but runs the floor fluidly and looks like he knows where he needs to be. Also knows and plays within his role. Doesn't spend time floating out on the perimeter. That being said, showed a smooth and fluid release from beyond the arc in spurts. Strong player who is not going to get pushed around, and palms a basketball with ease. That might sound trivial, but strong hands are important on the block. Still has a ways to go developmentally. But fits the prototype of a player who blooms late.
