ANAHEIM — We closed out our spring club basketball coverage with a stop at the annual Compton Magic Memorial Day tournament hosted at Open Gym Premier in Anaheim. There was a large contingent of Southern California programs in attendance in addition to teams from Arizona, Northern California and other west coast states. Below we take a look at the 17u guards who stood out Friday night.

[player_tooltip player_id='2436285' first='Carter' last='Fulton'] | 2027 | Compton Magic

Fulton is a sophomore who will see a big bump when we update our SoCal class of 2027 rankings. The 6-foot-1 combo guard has impressive feel and pace off the dribble and understands how to organize his team or take advantage of his own offensive opportunities on the break. Fulton is a savvy finisher with great body control who can decelerate and score, finish off of one foot, or contort his body to nullify shot blockers.

[player_tooltip player_id='2746605' first='Jaizahn' last='Lewis'] | 2027 | Compton Magic

Lewis has a dynamic combination of speed, physicality and body control that is a must for smaller guards to have. The 5-foot-11 combo guard uses his burst of speed to blow by defenders in half-court and transition an can accelerate and elevate into strong or crafty finishes around the basket. Lewis also showed consistency out to the three-point line off the catch and off the bounce.

[player_tooltip player_id='2647040' first='Nico' last='Mott'] | 2027 | Coastal Elite

Mott is a wired-to-score type of prospect whose value is in his ability to fill up the scoring column in a hurry. The 6-foot combo guard is adept at creating space from defenders changes of speed and direction in addition to his crafty ball-handling and footwork. Mott is a prospect who thrives off of rhythm jumpers from the three-point and mid-range levels of the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id='2276245' first='Nizir' last='Cannady'] | 2027 | UH Elite (AZ)

Cannady is a blur in transition whose tight handle on the ball, ability to change speeds and explode out of stop-and-go actions makes him a high level transition creator for himself and his teammates. The 5-foot-10 point guard played with great effort and energy on both sides of the floor and his on-ball defensive pressure sped up opposing guards and caused turnovers.

[player_tooltip player_id='2436287' first='Richie' last='Ramirez'] | 2027 | Gamepoint | Pictured

Ramirez has established himself as one of Southern California's best scoring guards in the 2027 class. The 6-foot-2 combo guard uses his combination of strength, speed and balance to initiate contact on drives, stay under control and score with a floater, crafty layup or mid-range jumper. Ramirez is very effective creating and attacking out of ball screen action where he can pick apart the defense with his scoring or passing abilities.

[player_tooltip player_id='2436286' first='Tristan' last='Anderson'] | 2027 | Gamepoint

There are few SoCal guards in the 2027 class who have the speed with the ball that Anderson possesses. The 5-foot-9 point guard is always looking to push the tempo in transition and use his speed to get a paint touch where he can finish with touch or find an open teammate. Something that always stands out about Anderson is how hard he plays and competes and how, even though he's operating at a break-neck pace, he always stays under control.
