May 2nd-4th I attended the annual Bash in the Desert at the Phhacility and Cortez HS locations. It had exactly 60 teams total and I watched almost every team in 17U and 16U and some of the 15U teams to form a good opinion of the field.

[player_tooltip player_id='2856082' first='Obama' last='Dau'] Bella Vista Prep (Team Supreme 16)

A long wing forward who can defend in space and score. He can cover a lot of ground on the perimeter and rebounds well inside. He will hit the three off the catch and get hot quickly. He will make the extra pass and he is very elusive on the break to finish.

Marshawn Dixon PG 5'6 2027 Bear Creek/CA (Stockton Bulls 16)

An undersized lead guard who is wired to score. He will score with floaters in the lane, and-1's on the break, catch and shoot threes, mid-range pull-ups and he will dive on the floor for a loose ball. He has quick hands on defense and he is a good rebounder in his area despite his size.

[player_tooltip player_id='2674681' first='Cassius' last='Henderson'] Cortez (AZ Legacy 16) (Pictured)

A long shooting guard who will score it multiple ways. He can get downhill with his long strides and shoot it from mid to the three. He has a plus wingspan and moves fluidly from end to end to defend. He uses his great length in the passing lanes to collect steals or get deflections.

[player_tooltip player_id='2856344' first='Seth' last='Myagaka'] Williams Field (AZ Select 16 Dev 16 Silver)

A newcomer for me is a long wing forward. He is very active on both ends of the court. He rebounds well in his area and scores it effectively inside the paint with quick drives.

[player_tooltip player_id='2149101' first='Jose' last='Saucedo'] Deer Valley (AV EVO Elite 16)

A skilled and cerebral scoring point guard. He will score with mid-range pull-ups and runs the court for layups in transition or will earn it on the free trow line. He threw a couple needle threaders in traffic showing his court vision and IQ.

[player_tooltip player_id='2848293' first='Jamir' last='Skiver'] Centennial (AV EVO Elite 16)

An athletic forward who can play both positions up front. He uses his bounce to dunk it on the break and he has good size and length to go along with a motor to defend from inside and out.
