AAU Roster Spotlight: Marston Elite HGSL Part II

Returning to Hoop Group's Showcase League circuit this year, Marston Elite has two strong groups playing 17U and has a handful of prospects that everyone should have their eye on heading into May's live period in a couple weeks. Anchored by strong guard play in the backcourt and perimeter shot making ability on the wings, Marston Elite should continue to have a strong spring and summer. In the second half of this article, let's dive into the rest of the prospects to know playing for Marston Elite this season.    Providing a strong scoring punch out of the backcourt for Marston Elite, [player_tooltip player_id='2857856' first='Zakariah' last='Bah'] has shown he's capable of being effective as a scorer both on and off the ball. On the ball, Bah is aggressive in getting downhill and finishing with craftiness around the basket. Bah has also displayed his ability to knock down open shots from three point range. Heading into the month of May, look for Bah to continue to showcase the different ways he can score the basketball.     A strong and physical guard, Jhan Acosta makes a living in the paint and has consistently put pressure on the rim through this first month of tournament play. Excellent at using his strong frame to play through contact, Acosta has done a good job of finishing through traffic around the basket. Acosta has also thrived as a threat off the ball, showcasing his capability to knock down open shots from three point range. Heading into May, look for Acosta to continue to showcase his ability to generate rim pressure, be effective from the perimeter, and thrive as a tenacious on ball defender.     A smooth and fluid shooter, particularly off the catch, Nico Esposito has been a lethal threat from three point range for Marston Elite this spring so far. A versatile shooter, Esposito has been seen knocking down perimeter shots off the catch, off movement coming off screens, and even mid range pull up jumpers. Esposito has been super efficient this spring and looks to continue his strong shooting performances heading into the month of May.     Possessing a unique combination of size and versatility, [player_tooltip player_id='2634334' first='Merrick' last='Olkowski'] has showcased his ability to not only be an excellent perimeter shot maker on the offensive end but also his ability to anchor the paint on the defensive end. Olkowski has a smooth and fluid shooting release— often times showcased spacing the floor in pick and pop scenarios. Defensively, Olkowski has thrived as rim protector— altering and blocking shots with great anticipation. Olkowski has also done a good job of contributing on the glass, crashing the boards and coming down with rebounds.     A floor general that takes command of any offense that he's in, [player_tooltip player_id='2481017' first='Clinton' last='Suggs'] is dangerous playmaker that is capable of creating offense not only for himself but also putting more pressure on the defense creating offense for his teammates. Very often making the right read with the ball in his hands and keeping the defense honest, Suggs excels at attacking the basket and finishing through contact. In Suggs' downhill pursuit of the basket, he's also shown an ability to make the right read— hitting dump offs down low, spraying out to shooters, or even at times throwing the lob. Heading into the May live period in a couple weeks, look for Suggs to continue to showcase his effectiveness as a floor general for Marston Elite.
