He followed up with a team-high 16 points in a win over Tohatchi. Culpepper and rising 6-foot-5 senior <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2878682' first='Carson' last='Pfaffenberger']</strong> should from &nbsp;a formidable front-line duo for Portales in 2025-26. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2833696' first='Jett' last='Curtis'], Texico</strong>: Curtis is one of several Texico players who won Class 2A state championships in football and basketball. In January, Curtis tied the state record for most 3-pointers in a single game with 15. In March, he scored 22 points and connected on 12-of-13 free throws in the close state championship game win over Mesa Vista. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2402829' first='Jerry' last='Moody'], Highland</strong>: An intriguing 6-foot-8 prospect, Moody is just coming into his own for the Hornets. Averaged 7.4 points and 8.8 rebounds per game to help Highland reach the 4A state championship game. Scored 14 points with 4 blocked shots in the semifinals. He will take on a more prominent role for Highland in 2025-26 with several key contributor graduating. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2833706' first='Ezequiel' last='Nevarez'], Mesa Vista</strong>: Talented young shooter. Helped Mesa Vista reach the Class 2A state championship game. Scored 10 points with a pair of 3-pointers and was the only Trojans player to play all 32 minutes in the state championship game against Texico.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2833001' first='Uriel' last='Quintana'], Espanola Valley</strong>: Key contributor off the bench for the Sundevils as they reached the Class 4A semifinals. Scored 6 points with a pair of 3-pointers in the semifinals against Artesia. Likely will have a larger role in 2025-26. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2832974' first='Jeremy' last='Sambrano'], Roswell</strong>: Sambrano helped lead the way for the Coyotes all season long as they battled rival Hobbs for the district title. Sambrano scored 20 points against Hobbs in February.
