Earlier this week we released our updated 2026 prospect rankings. Here are 10 New Additions to the rankings:

[player_tooltip player_id='2827428' first='Samuel' last='Biad'], Mayfield: Biad was the leading scorer for a Mayfield team that returns its top three and four of its top five scorers in 2025-26. Biad averaged 10.4 points per game and connected on 56 3-pointers, an average of two per game. He can shoot from long distance.

[player_tooltip player_id='2827151' first='Trent' last='Egeland'], Artesia: The 6-foot-4 Egeland transitioned nicely from football as he helped lead the Bulldogs to the Class 4A state title. In the championship game against Highland, Egeland scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. In the semifinals, he scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds against Espanola Valley. Like every other major contributor for Artesia, Egeland is back in 2025-26.

[player_tooltip player_id='2827164' first='Santiago' last='Martinez'], Mesa Vista: Martinez was the leader for a Mesa Vista team that advanced all the way to the Class 2A state championship game. In that game, Martinez scored 23 points, made 10-of-12 free throws and drew 8 fouls. He served notice that the Trojans should be title contenders in 2025-26.

[player_tooltip player_id='2827470' first='Emmitt' last='McDaniel'], Organ Mountain: Even though Organ Mountain suffered a loss in the first round of the state tournament, the Knights had a very good season with regular season and district tourney titles. McDaniel averaged 10 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals per game to earn First-Team All-District honors. McDaniel will be the highest returning scorer for the Knights in 2025-26.

[player_tooltip player_id='2827330' first='Ethan' last='Oetzel'], Albuquerque High: Oetzel earned First-Team All-State honors following a superb season in Bulldog City. The 6-foot-7 Oetzel overwhelmed Santa Fe in the first round of the state tournament. As tall as he is, Oetzel is skilled enough to handle the basketball on the perimeter. AHS will be a contender in Class 5A next season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2827268' first='Daryn' last='Pacheco'], Santa Rosa: After excelling on the gridiron in the fall (Santa Rosa advanced to the 2A state championship game), Pacheco helped lead Santa Rosa to the semifinals of the 2A state tournament last month, scoring a team-high 13 points with 3 assists against Mesa Vista.

[player_tooltip player_id='2827274' first='Kevin' last='Vigil'], Pecos: Playing all 32 minutes, evidence of his importance to his team, Vigil scored a team-high 15 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in the semifinals against Texico. Second-team All-State in 2A. Pecos has historically been a very successful program and there's no reason to believe that won't be the case again in 2025-26.

[player_tooltip player_id='2827188' first='Bennett' last='Wahlen'], Texico: What a year for Wahlen. He quarterbacked the powerful Texico football team to the 2A state championship and 4 months later he helped lead the Wolverines to the 2A basketball title. He scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds in the semifinals win over Pecos.

[player_tooltip player_id='2827441' first='Darian' last='Watson'], Piedra Vista: The Panthers may have struggled competing in the state's toughest district but Watson was solid, averaging over 10 points per game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2827325' first='Trajen' last='West'], Rehoboth Christian: Rehoboth Christian won 21 games, went undefeated in district play, and reached the 2A quarterfinals before seeing their season end in a close loss to Santa Rosa. West scored 21 points, connecting on 4 3-pointers, in the quarterfinals. He'll be one of the top players in Class 2A next season.
