GPCEC Standouts: 2025 Guards

GPCEC hosted an impressive collegiate showcase at Palm Beach Atlantic University on April 19, 2025. The event featured over 20 collegiate coaches and programs who guided players through various drills and games. This was a fantastic opportunity for players seeking recruitment opportunities, as many talented athletes were present. We will focus on players from the classes of 2025 to 2028. Additionally, there were some exceptional collegiate players in attendance. Below are the standout guards from the class of 2025 who are currently available.    Simeon is a smaller guard, but he compensates for his size with tenacity, particularly on the defensive end. He displays excellent instincts as a ball hawk, resembling a free safety while playing as an off-ball defender. Simeon converts his defensive plays into transition opportunities and effectively uses jump-stop layup finishes around the rim.     Jones did what any small guard must do to get noticed: play lockdown defense. He exerted a tremendous amount of energy on the defensive end of the court, consistently putting pressure on ball handlers in the frontcourt and creating turnover opportunities for himself and his teammates. His hands are incredibly quick and active.     Parks excelled during the drills and stations. He was exceptionally active, finishing forcefully at the rim and communicating assertively on defense. His solid technique was evident, and he clearly distinguished himself by exhibiting all the intangibles that every coach seeks at the next level.     Cortes was one of the more physically imposing lead guards at the event. He demonstrated his ability as a strong downhill finisher and showed skill in creating contact without getting pushed off his line. He competed fiercely and wore down his matchup on both ends of the court.     Steward has a sturdy frame and excels in pick-and-roll action. He displays quick decision-making and a pass-first instinct. He effectively positions himself in and around the paint and shows a reliable floater.     Osceola did an excellent job of showcasing his playing style despite the setting. He is a very streaky shooter, but his mechanics, reads, and decision-making are consistent on every play. He rarely turns the ball over, and although he is a shoot-first guard, he also made some great passes that led to easy looks for his teammates.     Rivers is a talented athlete and an excellent ball handler who plays with a low stance. He is a willing passer and demonstrates good shot selection. The most impressive aspect of Rivers' game is its simplicity; he avoids wasted motion and unnecessary dribbling. Everything he does is concise and contributes to productive possessions.     Watson is quick and has impressive agility, making it difficult for opponents to keep up with him. He plays with a great deal of energy and effort, often diving for loose balls. Additionally, he demonstrated his ability to play above the rim during drills.
