, the journey will continue on to college basketball. The potential-laden 6-foot-5 forward has rapidly progressed as a player during his high school career at West Linn and since he's also a tremendous student, the opportunities at the next level were plentiful. After looking at a number of options, Benson decided he'll head to Southern California for college having committed to Chapman this week.
"For me I chose Chapman because I really like the coaching staff and they have been recruiting me for a while," Benson said. "I also love the location the warm weather was something I was looking for. I met some of the guys when I visited and it seemed like a great environment where I can play basketball with a bunch of cool guys."
Benson dived more about the match with him and the Panthers. "I love the program and the offense that they run," Benson said. "I also value the great education that is get and I think it's a great fit for me as a player and student."
Benson broke out this past season for West Linn, helping the Lions reach the 6A state tournament while averaging 11.0 points and team highs with 7.8 rebounds and 1.3 blocks. A versatile athlete who can make an impact both inside and out, he knows the college level will require more of him physically and skill-wise and he's ready to go to work.
"I'm getting a lifting plan, eating plan, and a development plan to work on my game and improve on things they want me to improve with," Benson said. "Other than that doing the basics work hard, rebound, rim protect etc."
Our congratulations go out to Benson and his family on his decision. He currently ranks as the #60 player in the recently finalized Class of 2025 rankings.
