on Team Oregon for this year’s Northwest Shootout, they were quickly silenced on Sunday. From the jump the Sandy senior totally balled out in the all-star contest, posting 14 points and 7 rebounds while showcasing the skills he did all year long for the Pioneers. While Team Oregon ended up losing 96-87, it was something Brown will always cherish being a part of.
“It was really fun, you know, just everything, being a part of this,” Brown said. “It was just a really fun experience, something I’ll remember for sure.”
During the game, Brown did it all. He knocked down perimeter jumpers, including two threes, scored off the dribble, and finished around the rim. His offensive skills caught the attention of college coaches in attendance, some of whom later commented that they could totally see Brown as a future Division I player. That’s been the goal all along for the Sandy senior and he’s planning on starting his college career trying to get there as he recently committed to attend NJCAA power Salt Lake Community College.
“You know, the dream is always to play Division I basketball and Salt Lake is known for sending plenty of guys to D-I and they had a lot of scholarship money for me too,” Brown said. “I’ve seen the school a lot and it’s a big city and there’s a lot of stuff to do there. It’s a fun place for sure and it’s usually pretty warm too.”
Brown won’t attend Salt Lake CC until the 2027-28 season as he’ll first be going on a two-year LDS mission. During that time he’ll try to keep in shape as much as possible, working on his game when he has the opportunity.
“I want to just refine everything, become a better shooter, maybe getting some new moves, you never know,” Brown said. “Just working on everything – you always want to get better.”
Our congratulations go out to Brown and his family on his commitment. He finished as the #14 player in the final Class of 2025 rankings.
