The VISAA, Virginia's private school association, held their championships last weekend at Benedictine, and the Friday and Saturday have become known as one of the best weekends for high school basketball every year.

I called the games on the CBG Live Network on YouTube (and they're still up there for anyone who wants to watch), and the action was nothing short of fantastic. Here's a look at some of the standouts from the D-IV division.

Christian Scott | 5'10” PG | Stuart Hall '25

Scott was pivotal for Stuart Hall in their run to the state championship, showing his leadership as the senior point guard and also being very productive for them on both ends of the floor. The 5'10” lead guard showed his quickness and explosiveness touching the paint and getting out in transition at will. He made shots from multiple levels, delivered pinpoint passes and was very good as a point of attack defender.

Fields was fantastic for Stuart Hall in both of their wins over Banner Christian and Rise Academy, as he provided them with a mismatch that neither team could match up with. At 6'3” with a strong frame, his ability to handle the basketball and also kill them on the glass made him a huge part of their offense and he put up big numbers in both games. He was able to get downhill and finish through contact, he showed a great motor attacking the glass and he made shots from multiple levels too.

[player_tooltip player_id='2506228' first='Owen' last='Laver'] | 6'6” PF | Stuart Hall '28

Laver would have been my pick for MVP if they had one, and while he's just a freshman he showed a lot of maturity in his game and was unstoppable in the pint on both ends of the floor. At 6'6” and likely still growing, he showed a good skill set and is already a good athlete and he should get more explosive as he grows into his body. He played through contact and showed the ability to finish with both hands, he attacked the glass and played hard on both ends, he showed touch out to 18 feet and whenever they needed a big play he was there to deliver for them. He's going to be an intriguing prospect to watch moving forward.

Xavian Bagley | 6'3” WG | Banner Christian '26

Bagley was great for Banner Christian, and showed he's an intriguing prospect to keep an eye on in the Richmond area over the summer and for his senior season. While they weren't able to pull off the win against Stuart Hall, he helped lead a big comeback with his ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor and make tough shots from multiple levels. He has good length at 6'3” that allowed him to get deflections and challenge shots, he made shots off the catch from deep and he showed the ability to put it on the deck and get to the rim where he finished well too.

[player_tooltip player_id='2880100' first='Iziah' last='Robinson'] | 5'10” PG | Banner Christian '27

Robinson was one of the youngest players on Banner Christian, yet he showed he's next up with his stellar play and the confidence he showed. While he isn't the biggest guy, he's super quick and shifty off the bounce with great speed in transition, and he was a handful to keep in front for anyone. He made some big shots throughout the game, was an absolute pest defensively and made plays for others as well.

Devonte Atkins | 5'10” PG | Rise Academy ‘25

Atkins had perhaps the most impressive performance over the two games Rise had, as he scored over 20 in both games and got after it relentlessly on both ends of the floor. He was aggressive off the bounce using his speed and handle to get downhill and he drew a lot of contact to get to the line, he made tough shots from deep and in the midrange and was their leader on both ends of the floor. He finished with 29 points in their win over Hampton Christian, and while they couldn't pull off the win in the championship he kept them in it for the most part finishing with 19 points.

Nathaniel Seaborn | 6'1” CG | Rise Academy '25

Seaborn was a huge reason for Rise getting to the championship game, and he got injured during the championship game, and while he returned he wasn't quite himself and it was a huge loss for them. The 6'1” combo guard was lighting it up in a number of different ways for them as he made shots from deep off the catch and off the bounce, attacked the rim and finished through contact and was flying all over the place defensively. He finished with 18 points in their win over Hampton Christian and still managed to put up 12 in the championship despite the injury.
