A week behind on this release, however we'll catch up with some of the under the radar names for WV postseason teams. Some of these names may be known by local fans but in large unknown as to their heavy impact on their teams success this season and likely going forward.

In region one the Brooke Bruins squad pulled off the win over Fairmont East who has an up and coming freshman in [player_tooltip player_id='2805843' first='Jaxson' last='Conaway'] and sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2721072' first='River' last='McClain']. Brooke has a pair of dandy underclassmen with [player_tooltip player_id='2805840' first='Andrew' last='Murdock'] who is a long athletic wing and [player_tooltip player_id='2805839' first='Grant' last='Yost'] who is a physical and active pain presence.

Fellow region one team Elkins has another great chance to make it to the civic center in Charleston behind the efforts of scoring point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2528455' first='Levi' last='Wanless'] who's played at a high level all season. Wanless is tough as nails and consistently hits tough shot after tough shot for the Elkins squad. Their regional counterpart North Marion could be hitting its stride into a return trip to Charleston behind another senior, [player_tooltip player_id='2805889' first='Brady' last='Anderson'] who averages just under 9 points per and 4 rebounds and provides alot of muscle in the paint. Sophomore David Kusich is a wildcard as well with is energy. Should be a great matchup.

REGION II

Bridgeport takes on Hampshire in a regional final where a couple players come to mind as "underdogs" if you will. [player_tooltip player_id='2337762' first='Gavin' last='Williams'] gives the Indians a great change of pace when he's at the point as well as defend on ball as well as anyone. [player_tooltip player_id='1573156' first='Landon' last='Sanders'] who doesn't get much press, is still the smooth shooter he always has been. Look for both of them to have big games on to Championship Saturday we're predicting.

On the other side of the bracket Lewis County defeated a tough Frankfort team with [player_tooltip player_id='2303389' first='Jeremy' last='Phillips'] leading the charge, but Lewis County's [player_tooltip player_id='2208856' first='Ben' last='Putnam'] was too much too often for Frankfort posting a 30 point and 14 rebound double double. Putnam has been one of the north central region's top scorers and performers all season. If the Lewis County squad can knock off RCB we'll get to see Putnam on the civic center floor. However, Robert C. Byrd will have something to say about that with their lineup of athletes, but a lesser known name you need to know about going into this week is [player_tooltip player_id='1578764' first='Rylee' last='Dickerson'] of RCB. He's a long athletic slasher who poses matchup problems for many.

REGION III

Region three is a monster in many ways. One, it has nine teams and nobody knows the justification for that but it is what it is. However, Sissonville defeated Nicholas in what we could call a play in game where it 8 versus 9 and Sissonville got that victory behind [player_tooltip player_id='2367481' first='Luke' last='Michael'] 15 points. Sissonville advanced to play Shady Spring who have started to get contributions from freshman [player_tooltip player_id='2425395' first='Gabe' last='Short'] who looks to be a solid player in the future. Short got six points in the victory over Sissonville. Herbert Hoover's [player_tooltip player_id='2366398' first='Donovan' last='Brown'] is sneaky good, a quick guard who can shoot it lights out along with all conference performer [player_tooltip player_id='2561912' first='Riley' last='Johnson']. They grinded out a win over a talented Princeton team and now have the task of taking on Shady. Meanwhile, Ripley and Greenbrier East square off with rosters full of under the radar players who have played well all season. Ripley's [player_tooltip player_id='2794539' first='Brandon' last='Sias'] is the one who could be a game changer being an athletic sophomore who effects the game in several ways on both ends. Not to mention [player_tooltip player_id='2306370' first='Matthew' last='Stellato'], [player_tooltip player_id='2806155' first='Kyler' last='Doss'] and [player_tooltip player_id='2776700' first='Blake' last='Justice'] are the top three scorers all averaging between 10 and 12 points.

REGION IV

Winfield started its postseason thumping Point Pleasant with one of the best young point guards in WV who's freshman [player_tooltip player_id='2464880' first='Mydan' last='Oglesby']. A high basketball IQ and effective distributor, Oglesby has been great this year as the floor general at the AAA level. Winfield will match up top seeded and 2024 state tournament participant Nitro who returns every player from last year's team and while many of them have become household names in the Kanawha Valley, [player_tooltip player_id='2377052' first='Caylem' last='Thomas'] is turning in some impressive minutes for the Wildcats averaging over four assists a game coming off the bench as a point guard. It's Chapmanville versus Wayne in the other semifinal and there's several names to mention for each but we'll keep it to a couple. Chapmanville has several young studs that play big minutes but [player_tooltip player_id='2734711' first='Jay' last='Brock'] stands out to me as the next big star and one that could make an impact in the postseason. Meanwhile, Wayne has seen a record setting year behind [player_tooltip player_id='1413972' first='Isaac' last='Meddings'] but the name to keep an eye on is [player_tooltip player_id='2554065' first='Ronnie' last='Staley']. Staley eclipsed the 1000 point mark recently and would be a star on alot of teams but has been an exceptional Robin to Batman Meddings.
